‘Hearthstone’ Tavern Brawl is ‘Battle of Tol Barad’ Though ‘An Evil Exchange’ Was Briefly Announced

TouchArcade Rating:

Well, Blizzard is messing with us again. While its twitter account announced that the new Hearthstone (Free) Tavern Brawl would be An Evil Exchange, instead what we got (at least in NA) is a repeat of Battle of Tol Barad. Then, Blizzard officially tweeted out that we are indeed getting Battle of Tol Barad, so I suppose that’s the one we’re getting. If you remember this Brawl from back in November, magical creatures are escaping Tol Barad, and that’s good for you. So, each time you play a minion, you get a random spell of the same cost as the minion you played but it, instead, costs 0 to play. The spells you’ll get aren’t class-specific, so when you’re building your deck don’t let a class’ spell selection affect your class choice. Since the spells can be from all kinds of classes, there’s definitely plenty of RNG moments in this Brawl, which makes for some quite wacky moments.

When you’ll be building your deck, expect to face a lot of spells from your opponent, so build accordingly. One interesting thing to remember is that the Summoning Stone treats the spells you play as if they cost their original mana cost, which means you get big minions for free. Also, you could try and take advantage of all the spell casting with a Burly Rockjaw Trogg for example, or you could build a Mage deck with the likes of Flamewaker and Mana Wyrm (and even Archmage Antonidas if you have it) to take advantage of your own spell casting. Other deck ideas involve bringing a Violet Teacher to give you extra free minions, a Djinni of Zephyrs (since you can finally buff him for free), and even a Loatheb if you want to gum up your opponents machine. So, go cast some spells and enjoy the RNG.
