While Pokemon Go from Niantic is set to hit sometime this year, it looks like another Pokemon game is set to hit mobile in Japan: Pokemon Comasters. With the help of our own Shaun Musgrave, what we've sussed out about this is that it's a game being developed by HEROZ, where you'll take part in battles against online or AI opponents. Their specialty appears to be in that field of offering AI opponents along with online matches in games like Chess HEROZ [Free] so they might be a good fit for this one.

This one is set to hit this spring at least in Japan. Worldwide release wouldn't be unexpected, but never a guarantee with a game initially released in Japan. Do note that this is separate from Nintendo's planned game releases, as The Pokemon Company is separate from Nintendo proper despite their close relationship and console/handheld exlusivity on Nintendo systems. Whatever this game will be – and it sure looks like there's a board game influence with figures battling it out – this will be worth keeping an eye out for.

Looks like it could be fun!

Since I was never into Pokemon (hit US after my childhood), the only iOS Pokemon game I'd spend money on is a port of one of the GBA games... OR a new game like those. Don't know why they haven't done that yet.

Because they have it avalible on their consoles and handhelds. Simple as that.

Nintendo is very protective of their IP. If you can get it on IOS/Android the sales of their handhelds would drop. Nintendo wants to keep their products alive even if it means earning less money.

I get that point completely but I'm pretty sure the sales from the old red blue and yellow versions they just brought back to 3ds could be exponentially greater on iOS and wouldn't really damage the 3ds brand....but I guess it's on Nintendo

    Hope this one is good.

Anything Pokemon is on my radar. More Pokemon more fun. It's one of the only franchises I have enjoyed since I was like 8 or 9 years old.

WTF is a Comaster? A master? A coaster? I really wish Japan would go on Amazon and buy an English dictionary, would really help with "words that sound cool, yet used out of context."

      More than one master
