Nexon’s Blocky Dungeon Crawler RPG ‘Legacy Quest’ Now Available

TouchArcade Rating:

Nexon’s Legacy Quest (Free) was originally announced more than a year ago, in February 2015, and just a week or so after that it ended up being one of my favorite games that I saw at GDC that year. The game had been in soft-launch since last September, and has undergone numerous changes and tweaks since leading up to its worldwide release just last night. So what is Legacy Quest? The simple description is it’s Diablo with a Minecraft-y voxel art style. You’ll create a team of fighters and loot dungeons by hacking and slashing away at tons of enemies in a variety of shapes and sizes. This is an old trailer and I think the release version of Legacy Quest looks a lot better, but it gives you a brief idea of what you’re in for gameplay-wise.

While the combat itself isn’t terribly deep, the loot and upgrading system certainly seems to be. If finding/crafting/unlocking/upgrading/enhancing weapons/items/characters gets your blood pumping, you should have your hands full here. Legacy Quest is also a super attractive game despite its blocky nature, with impressive lighting and particle effects. It’s free to play so there’s all the expected stuff that comes with that, but so far it seems pretty run of the mill in that regard, meaning if you’re used to grinding and in-game currencies and limited lives then you won’t find any surprises here. The combat is certainly fun though, and I’m already getting sucked into the loot upgrading meta game.

If you like the look of Legacy Quest, it’s definitely worth the time it takes to download and check out for yourself. It’s getting a positive reception in the forums so far and I’m personally having a lot of fun, especially after waiting so long for the release.
