I think it's safe to say that Radiangames, aka solo developer Luke Schneider, is one of the preeminent developers on mobile. For many years now Luke has been putting out some of the very best dual-stick shooters on the platform, and whenever he's not releasing a new shooter he's releasing an insanely clever puzzle game. It's an odd mix of genres to master, but Radian has done exactly that. They also don't throw a whole lot of sales, but today Radian has decided to put literally their entire iOS library on massive discount, including 6 titles that have dropped down to free and 5 more that have dropped down to just 99¢. Here's the full list of what's on sale:

You may remember that last July Radiangames announced an upcoming project called Legend of Gigatron, which looked like it took everything they knew about making a great dual-stick shooter and added a full-fledged adventure game on top. It looked amazing. However, life as an indie dev is tough, and after a less-than-stellar foray into Steam Radian found itself in a tough financial position. They went on to release Devastator in September, but Legend of Gigatron's future was kind of up in the air. Since then, Luke Schneider has gone on to team up with the original creators of Descent on a new game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC called Overload that looks mind-blowingly awesome.

Unfortunately, that means Legend of Gigatron is on the back burner for now. The good news is that Schneider does plan on coming back to Gigatron to finish it, and even has big plans to completely overhaul the visuals. The bad news is that he suspects it might be a year or two before he's able to do that. In my opinion, Radiangames has earned the right to take all the time they need to get themselves in a good position to come back to mobile. In the meantime, if you are missing any of the games in the Radiangames library, this current sale is a great time to fill in any gaps, or perhaps experience their excellent brand of shooters and puzzle games for the very first time.

      Especially on iCade :)

Wow, that Overload game looks to me so much like a re-skin of the 1988 PC game 'Forsaken'.....

    • http://twitter.com/JaredTA Jared Nelson

The guys making Overload are the original creators of Descent, which was pretty much the pioneer in this particular genre back in 1995. Forsaken is a very good game but it actually came after Descent and at the time was considered a "Descent clone" in the same way that every FPS that came after Doom was considered at least in some way a "Doom clone."

So yeah, they look similar for a reason but these guys are the OGs :)

ID made Wolfenstein 3D (1992) before Doom (1993). Although the FPS genre goes back further than that...

      • http://twitter.com/JaredTA Jared Nelson

How DARE you "Well, actually" my "Well, actually" Yep I'm fully aware Wolfy came first, but Doom was the major mainstream breakthrough which is why its name gets associated with giving rise to the genre. Kinda like how everyone says "It's like Angry Birds!" instead of "It's like Crush the Castle!" because 90% of everyone you talk to would have no idea what Crush the Castle is but everyone and their mother brothers knows what Angry Birds is.

Haha love to see Crush the Castle mentioned. I'm a fan. Loved the trebuchet, loved the goofy screams of the dying.

      • Ponyfox

Not just that, but also because everyone just took ID's engine as a basis for their own next FPS game and this was very apparent.
Wolfenstein 3D only spawned so many FPS titles based on that engine back in the day. With Doom it got kinda out of hand.
The true first FPS game was Catacomb Abyss and indeed very little people have heard of that one as they kept saying Wolfenstein 3D was the first one, while it clearly wasn't either. Ah, generations...

      • WP

Ah, "The More You Know...." Thanks, Jared!

(Disclaimer: I never played Descent, but Forsaken was the first PC game I could play to really push my awesome new video card limits once I finally could afford an upgrade back in the day.) 😉
