Asteroid-Dodging ‘Hyperide’ Releases Next Week

Polish developer Kool2Play has announced that their new game Hyperide is releasing on February 3rd as a free download. The game is about dodging meteors at high speeds, with the tradeoff being that you can fly close to meteors to gain a temporary shield, which might keep you safe for when the asteroid speeds get a bit too hairy. Along the way, you’ll collect pinkonium, the game’s currency which can be used to unlock new ships and levels. You’ll mostly find these in black hole sections, with additional pinkonium in black holes the further along you get in the game.

While Hyperide is a simple left-right dodging game, it’s a well-made one based on the early version I’ve gotten to play. The game plays at a good pace, allows you to jump back in after you die really quickly, and has plenty of unlockables to nab. It’s a solid example of how to do this sort of high score chaser, and you can check it out for yourself next week on February 3rd.
