Well, it seems we are about to get more information on Nintendo and DeNA’s mobile plans. As you may remember, a few days ago the rumor mill around Nintendo’s first iOS game started spinning faster. We reported that industry veteran Dr. Serkan Toto said to expect the unexpected, and soon, and then The Wallstreet Journal reported that Nintendo’s first mobile game could come as early as the next few days. These rumors seemed to be related to Nintendo’s earnings reports this Wednesday and then its investors’ briefs tomorrow, Thursday. Well, the rumors were relatively accurate as today, The Wallstreet Journal reported that Nintendo will give more information on its upcoming mobile game(s) tomorrow during its meeting with investors.
Nintendo’s new chief executive, Tatsumi Kimishima, said that “We will provide updates on our project with DeNA tomorrow," leaving little doubt that we are about to learn more about what Nintendo and DeNA have been cooking in their underground lairs (in my mind, every company has an underground lair; if it doesn’t, it’s missing out). Now, don’t get too excited because the information might end up being “Yes, we are still working on the game, looks great." At the same time, though, we might get a hint at a possible release date or something along those lines. Still, some information is better than no information. Stay tuned for more news tomorrow.
