Desert-Wandering Roguelike ‘Cloud Chasers’ Launches Next Week

Blindflug Studios announced earlier this year that they were working on their second game, Cloud Chasers, after their fascinating debut game of nuclear warfare, First Strike. Sadly, they aren’t continuing the numeration trend in their titles with Cloud Chasers, but we can only dream. But Cloud Chasers is really promising, and you’ll get to play it for yourself next week, on October 15th.

The game has you wandering through the desert as Francisco and Amelia, as you explore the desert, coming across events along the way that force you to make decisions that affect the items you get and the status of the duo you’re in charge of. Your key resource is water, and you must fly your glider with Amelia into clouds to collect water, which is constantly draining. The clouds have drones that will also collect water and attack you, so you have to be careful, as if your glider breaks, you will eventually die of thirst. Plus, water is your currency at each town, so you really need to manage this resource and keep your characters alive.

This is shaping up to be a really cool game that I hope people will be talking about once it comes out. It’s also really accessible, as though the game is in real-time with your water constantly draining, the entire game is played through touch-to-move controls on the ground, and left-right movement with your thumbs while in the air to control your glider. You’ll be able to try this one out for yourself when it releases on October 15th.
