There’s Cases for the New Apple TV Remote, Because of Course There Is.

I feel like mobile technology needs some kind of universal constant we can cite, something along the lines of Rule 34, that says “A case exists for every conceivable piece of portable electronics." We saw it with ridiculous cases for the Apple Watch, and history is once again repeating itself with the Apple TV remote. Griffin is the first of what I’m sure will be many different accessory manufacturers making cases for the remote, with the silicon Survivor Play for Siri Remote.

It sports features like “ultra-comfortable gaming," boasting both increased protection from drops and the like as well as a more grippy texture so it doesn’t slide out of your hands. Sadly, there is a bit of a precedent for such things, as anyone who was following console gaming around the release of the Wii knows about Nintendo giving out free Wii remote “condoms" after what seemed like a shocking amount of people threw their Wii remotes through the screens of their TV’s.

It remains to be seen whether or not the new Apple TV remote will slay as many TV’s as the O.G. Wiimote, but putting a case on a controller still seems supremely weird to me- Like the gaming equivalent of a car bra.
