iPad Mini 4 Announced, as Powerful as iPad Air 2, but no iPad Air 3

Apple has just announced the iPad Mini 4. Details are light beyond that this is a bump up for the iPad Mini to bring it on par with the iPad Air 2 in power. It looks like there’s no iPad Air 3 this year. The iPad Mini 2 has gotten a price cut to $269 as well, with the iPad Mini 3 seemingly dead. The Mini 4 will be $399.

The lack of a new iPad Air is curious, but the iPad Air 2 is still a perfectly-capable device, and may not have benefited from a bump in power the same way that the Mini does. The iPad Mini 3 was just the Mini 2 with Touch ID, after all. While the Mini 2 is still a perfectly capable device, the Mini 4 will support the same multitasking features that the iPad Pro and iPad Air 2 will support, so there’s at least a justified reason to get this over the Mini 2, which stays as the entry-level iPad Mini.
