Card Crafting Comes to ‘Vainglory’ in Latest Update

Earlier this week, the folks over at Super Evil Megacorp launched version 1.7 of their hit mobile MOBA Vainglory (Free). While the version update didn’t see the debut of a new hero, there were a ton of significant updates and additions to the game.

One of the bigger additions to debut in version 1.7 of Vainglory is the introduction of card crafting. Now, players are able to destroy excess cards and create essence, which can then be used to create other cards. To implement this new system the developers have introduced a new tap-and-hold system that tries to minimize accidentally creating and destroying cards (essentially tap and hold on a card to destroy or create — the more valuable the card, the longer you have to hold). This is a great system that goes a long way towards rewarding the players that have been earning cards but haven’t had such kind experiences with the RNG that determines wha you actually earn. There’s also been a welcome deduction in price for Glory Box price drops, going from 749 to 479 glory per card box.

Not to be outdone with card crafting, six new skins have also launched with the 1.7 update. Paragon Catherine gets a Tier II and III skin, Stormlord Ardan gets Tier II, along with SAWborg and Kill-Joule 9000. Finally, we also see the debut of Shiro Kage Tier I for Taka.

The developers at Super Evil Megacorp also announced a slew of significant fixes to how lag affects the game. Specifically, heroes will now continue to attack even when lagging, and heroes with very high attack speeds should continue to have them even during lag. In addition, the nefarious Catherine stun bug, which on occasion led to her stun ability not proc’ing (in addition to SAW’s shank and Glaive’s knock-back) has finally been fixed. Version 1.7 also eliminates a pesky bug related to jungle monsters disappearing on occasion in the brush.

In terms of gameplay changes, there were some significant changes to a handful of characters, but in essence, Vox, Taka and Fortress got some significant nerfs while Petal and SAW got some welcome changes (Petal can have munions at level 1, SAW’s Spin Up stacks don’t disappear during stuns). Finally, the addition of ping muting, party vs bots and UI changes round out the majority of the other additions.
