‘Summoner Wars’ Has Just Added Six New Factions

TouchArcade Rating:

Summoner Wars (Free), Playdek and Plaid Hat Games’ deckbuilding battler, has offered me many hours of entertainment since it came out, but it hasn’t seen new content in quite some time. Well, Playdek decided to remedy that by dropping six new factions on us yesterday. The game originally launched with eight factions and then two more were added in 2013. Since then, though, all had been quiet on the Summoner front, so I’m glad we now have more toys to play with. Specifically, the new update adds the Shadow Elves, who rely on speed and surprise, the Sand Goblins, efficient warriors who use the power of sandstorms, Deep Dwarves, units with amazing but very expensive abilities, Swamp Orcs, who grow in power when a unit dies, The Filth, who can transform into vile, powerful tools, and Mercenaries, who can manipulate Walls to their advantage.

As you can tell, these new factions offer new, very different ways of playing Summoner Wars. If you ignore how dice-dependent this game can get (I swear, I have the worse luck), this is one of the best strategy games out there with a great multiplayer mode that should get even better once Playdek launches its Tournament mode officially. The new factions are now available as IAP, and the whole bundle costs $3.99, a pretty low price for all the new cards you get.
