‘Hearthstone’ Introduces Two New Cosmetic Heroes, the Mage and the Hunter

TouchArcade Rating:

Hearthstone‘s (Free) developers have been very busy lately, haven’t they? First, they announced Magni Bronzebeard, a cosmetic Hero that will replace Garrosh, the Warrior; then, they announced the long-awaited new mode, Tavern Brawl, and now they’ve announced two new cosmetic heroes that will replace the Mage, Jaina Proudmoore, and the Hunter, Rexxar. The new Hunter Hero will be Alleria Windrunner, the head of the Alliance Expedition to Draenor and Sylvanas’ older sister. Alleria became renowned for killing a huge number of trolls in defense of her homeland during the Troll Wars. Surprisingly, Alleria hasn’t appeared in World of Warcraft, yet.

The hero to replace Jaina Proudmoore will be the Mage, Medivh, the last Guardian of Tirisfal. Medivh was corrupted by a demonlord, who used Medivh to attempt and conquer Azeroth. Although Medivh (working with Gul’dan, Hearthstone‘s Warlock Hero) managed to open the Dark Portal and initiate the destruction of Azeroth, he was slain soon after by Lothar. However, he didn’t stay dead for long, and he returned as a mysterious prophet, wielding the Greatstaff of the Guardian (which can be seen in his portrait in Hearthstone). I hope that Blizzard will take advantage of all these new heroes coming to Hearthstone and will add a Lore section to the game. I’d like to know more about all those characters that I spend so many hours staring at. The heroes should be coming to the game when the new update hits (the update should be coming mid-month, which means any day now), will cost $9.99 each, and will come with new art, new portraits, new animations, and new emotes; however, in case you haven’t heard, they will be purely cosmetic and won’t add any new cards or new hero powers.
