Check out the Trailer for ‘Subterfuge’ from the Creators of ‘World of Goo’ and ‘Flower Garden’

Ron Carmel of 2D Boy, who helped make World of Goo ($4.99) and Little Inferno ($4.99), is working with Noel Llopis of Flower Garden ($2.99) and Casey’s Contraptions fame (before that game became Rovio’s Amazing Alex ($0.99)) on Subterfuge, a curious multiplayer strategy game that’s played over a week time period with other players. The team just released their first trailer showing off some of the gameplay but trying to encapsulate what they’re hoping the experience will be.

The goal is to drill neptunium from various outposts, and engaging in both diplomacy, subterfuge, and combat in order to try and be the top player in your game. There’s a bit of a Galcon ($1.99) influence as it’s possible to send selective resources from bases to outposts, and fight with others for those outposts. There’s in-game chat with other players to help facilitate strategy and sabotage. This video shows off how the basic mechanics work:

The game is still in development, but there’s a private alpha that can be signed up for at the Subterfuge website if you’re interested in giving this one a shot and giving feedback on the game. The lengthy game sessions and nature of mobile notifications with the game make this one sound like a really curious title worth keeping an eye on.
