Stumble Along as a Spider in ‘Daddy Long Legs’, Now Available for Free on iOS

TouchArcade Rating:

Back in mid-August, we “stumbled" across a trailer for a quirky new game from developer Set Snail called Daddy Long Legs (Free). Like QWOP ($0.99) and many other awkward physics-based games that task you with doing everyday things like, uh, walking, Daddy Long Legs sees your furry, square-ish hero trying to walk as far as possible with his ridiculously long legs. Simply tapping on the screen alternates which leg Daddy puts forward, so careful timing and a whole lot of luck are required in order to make it any significant distance.

In a very cool touch, all of your Game Center friends’ high score marks are laid out in the path before you, so there’s a nice competitive element. There’s also Everyplay integration so if you have a particularly silly run you can share the replay for all the world to enjoy. Also, despite the name of the game, you don’t actually play as a spider (unless you’re a spider who’s had the unfortunate fate of having six of his legs ripped off), so arachnophobes like myself can safely play without getting the heebie jeebies.

Daddy Long Legs is free, and as far as I can tell there are no ads or any other restrictions to playing. It’s just a silly free game. In fact “silly" is the best word I can think of to describe Daddy Long Legs. It’s ultra-simple and surprisingly difficult, but I’ve had plenty of laugh out loud moments just in my brief time with it so far watching Daddy stumble and land flat on his face or taking too long of a stride and slowly doing a painful looking splits. I’m also bound and determined to beat my Game Center friends’ records, so I imagine I’ll be spending a good portion of my day flopping one leg in front of the other with plenty of faceplants mixed in. Daddy Long Legs is free so check it out, and drop by the forums to leave us your thoughts or share some replays.

Update: I’ve been told there are supposed to be banner ads at the top of the screen, but, they’re not appearing for me at all. Not sure if something is broke or what, but it’s worth noting.
