It's getting close to that time of year again, as the latest edition of Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers is on the horizon according to a post at IGN. In June of 2012, Magic 2013 [Free (HD)] was released for the iPad and we really liked it a lot. It lacked the robustness of the physical card game, but served as a perfect gateway to get people into the whole world of Magic, and the digital version was a perfect way to get your Magic fix on the go. Last June Magic 2014 [Free (HD)] kept the experience mostly intact, but did offer some nice new features. Magic 2015 sounds like it will again be more of a good thing, but IGN notes some of its new features will include "the ability to build customized decks, a more robust deck builder, and premium booster packs." Here's a brief teaser.

Magic 2015 will be playable at PAX East this weekend, and if tradition continues, should be available sometime this June. In addition to iPad, it's coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Android and Kindle. Strangely, it doesn't appear that it will be gracing PlayStation platforms this time around. Look for Magic 2015 on iPad sometime this summer.

Why would anyone play this on an Xbox/PS?

    • vai_levar_no_cu

for the same reason people play platformers and games unsuited for smartphones on touch devices. maybe they dont own another system/machine.

have it also on the x360, and plays really well. not a patch on the ipad/PC + mouse, though

It's also on PC and I only mentioned consoles so no I don't think that everyone who plays this owns a tablet. I've got nothing against it though. I'd just never heard of this being on consoles.

Has been since the 2012 edition.

      • the_rebel14

Huh. Ok. I guess you learn something new everyday!

  • Adams Immersive

That's a whole lot of pluralses in that name!

  • falco

Do you think it is because of Hearthstone ?

  • Wizard_Mike

I hope the decks are better this year. 2014 was a bit of a letdown after the previous year.

  • hourglass

Or you could just buy the cards and actually play the game with real people in real places.

FINALLY! Thank you! Someone who understands!

If hearthstone can run on iPhones, why can't this? I'd love to play it, but I don't, and don't plan on buying an iPad. And I like card games on the go, not on my consoles.

I really can't imagine how they could make Magic playable on an iPhone screen. Even on the the iPad it sometimes gets a bit crowded.

I agree I'm currently playing order and chaos tcg but I would love to c both hearthstone an magic on iPhones I will not buy an iPad when my phone is way more convenient and smaller for on the go:)
