hearthstonelogoBlizzard's highly-anticipated card-battler Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft feels like it's been in beta forever, but today that beta period officially ended and the game is now available for Mac and PC. That's great news and all, but what about the iPad version? Well, Blizzard has always stated that the iPad version would come out after the official release of the PC and Mac version, but haven't really said how far after the desktop release it would be.

Blizzard also announced at BlizzCon this past November that Hearthstone would come to the iPhone as well as the Android platform sometime in the second half of 2014. When questioned about the iOS version on the Hearthstone blog in a post announcing its release earlier today, a Blizzard representative stated "Working on it! iPad, iPhone and Android in the works!" My guess is it will be out before the second half of 2014 starts, so before the end of June (hopefully much sooner).

We've spent quite a bit of time with Hearthstone pre-release, going hands-on with the game on iPad and taking a more in-depth look at its card collecting aspects. As nice as it is to see the official release of the game for PC and Mac, we're still quite anxious for an iPad release. Once Blizzard starts talking specific release dates for the iPad version we'll be sure to let you know, but until then you might as well give the PC or Mac version of Hearthstone a try for free while you wait.

Although it is not native, splashtop works very well with hearthstone. I use it all the time but definitely can't wait for the native app!

  • Amenbrother

So us iPad folks get to get beat down by players that are a lot higher level than us because we got the game late? No thanks.

    • andrew9oh7

You wouldn't face them.theres rank for a reason

    • Thawkk

Or you could go on a computer now and get started for free. Ranked play puts you in tiers, so you shouldn't be playing against people much higher than your skill level. And even then, I've beaten people with legendary cards by just using basic decks of the cards you get from the start. It's not that bad.

    • Suji

your not the only one getting the game late, who's stupid enough to make a game that unbalanced. Well there are stupid games like that but this is definitely not that type

    • tgrrtt

There are also periodic (monthly?) rank resets

    • Haruhi Suzumiya

This proves that you are a iPad user because apparently you haven't heard about ranking yet :p

    • Meatshield

You dont Think you Will be matched with ppl the same lvl as you? And there's no Real benefit on being High lvl btw. Quit being a negative asshat and get the sand out of your vagina.

    • Madmartigan

beta is closed and now when you play ranked you play someone in your same rank. i have to say it will be the best game that has come out this year. i dont play card game and this is too much fun

  • Ramaz1234

Will I be able to play on my itouch 5?:(

    • Evolution888

Its safe to assume that itll be available Q3-Q4 alongside the Android version

  • falco

Come on Blizzard release it now for iPad !!!

    • jForsythe

Right and then it will be full of bugs and you will complain about them releasing it early or calling it a beta or call them aholes or worse.

  • UnSurreal

Will I be able to use the same profile on my ipad, that I have right now for the PC?

    • andrew9oh7

      Yes.blizzard said it will

  • Nick

Can't wait for this to come to iPad, just downloaded it to try it out on my PC surprisingly it works but I think I'd prefer to play it on my iPad 🙂

  • joy patel

    Another of those card games?

    I'll pass.

    • Ramaz1234

      • falco

Hehe I think he don't know what this game is...

  • iValerio1990

    Premium or freemium?

    • Nycteris

I have been playing for awhile; it's very possible to play and get good cards without investing money- unless you want to.

      • iValerio1990

Thanks but i dont play freemium games

      • Nycteris

No problem, there are so many other games!

      • falco

You don't need to spent money to play this game.

  • Nycteris

    I love this game!

    I just wish I had a Rag.

  • bigjack66

Oh good! Another crap card game! I don't get it!

    • ste86uk

Just because you dislike them doesn't mean everyone does, a card game done right is a dream for me. Blizzard know what they are doing when it comes to balance and being fair, ranks ect.

      Also updates I hope!

      • falco

Yup I don't like card games but this one I fkin LOVE IT Its perfect!

    • mutts

I don't get the hype either but call it a crap game is a bit far off.
I played the closed beta for awhile and later the open beta, the mechanics are good and it all work smooth.
But it is a card game combined with world of war craft thats all. So not really my cup of tea, still it is good to see Blizzard is trying something new.

    • Madmartigan

Have you even played it? i played MTG once or twice with friends i had some fun. stopped playing moved on. then this game came around its fun easy and a blast to play. My magic will tear you apart.
HUH Greetings. lol so this game rocks but its not for everyone.
"another crap card game" wow very harsh for not even trying it out. i double dog dare you. double

  • Sandalphon

I am not a card player with these types of games, but I thought I would try. I had a blast. As up all night playing. Lost most but won a few. It's similar to WoW where you level, make gold buy new cards and have quests. Not as indepth of course. But still... If you need a break from playing WoW but still want a fix of sorts I recommend this. Fun and free. Enjoy

    • Sandalphon

Ah yes. I can't wait for it to come on iPad sooner would be better but then I would rather have working correctly.

  • http://about.me/davidlnguyen David Nguyen

This game........is surprisingly fun and I was never into card games. It's the type of game Mojang should've of made instead of the horrible Scrolls. This could be the next big killer iOS app with a real lifespan.

  • shcgzb

They made it free, they made it friendly, they made it fun, they made it easy to get new cards. They played all the right moves and cards. It will suck a lot of people in, unlike MTG on ipad, not friendly and fun at all with very fast difficulty curve from one stage to next.

It is a fun game. I lost 1 and win 2 in casual. And got new cards. Definitely will play more. I like MTG concept more, however, this game is much more fun and friendly to play, so I will play this one. MTG will not get a lot of new player after this comes out!

  • worldcitizen1919

If they port it exactly as on PC with all the bells, whistles and effects this will become a classic. But they have to get it right. I played it on PC for a while yesterday and today and LOVED IT! I don't play games much on my PC anymore as I prefer ipad but this was so good I spent a lot of time on my PC. Just hope they make it exactly the same on ipad.

    • staraffinity

I don't see why it should be any different than the PC/Mac version. As far as I understand it's made using Unity and should be relatively easy to get onto mobile platforms as well.

This game is going to be uber successful on iPad and eventually iPhone. The pay model is very fair and the it is fun and addictive. While it will fit well on the iPad with some cramped spaces when you customize decks, the iPhone version will be pretty challenging to pull off in the small area.

  • shathox3x

I started playing this game yesterday on PC, and I love it so far! I can't wait until the iPhone release!

  • oggzech

Come on blizzard are you gonna release it For iPad soon

  • Madmartigan

I read sometime around april but i would rather wait till all the bugs are fixed. nothing worse then to lay down a beat down and then the app crashes. take your time and do it right. i have it on my computer for now.
