If you enjoyed the collection of puzzles in 2012's The Curse [$1.99], then you'll want to get your Excited Hat on as developer Mojo Bones has announced that the follow-up title called The Voyage is hitting the App Store this Thursday. The Voyage is a similar collection of classic brain teasers all tied together with a storyline and a piratey theme. Check out the trailer, narrated by your new adversary Captain Bucklebeard.

Like its predecessor, The Voyage will come equipped with 100 different pages of puzzles to solve that run the gamut of genres like logic, timing-based, perception and more. In the case of The Curse, the added storyline was a really cool way to package up a bunch of  classic puzzles that might otherwise feel somewhat boring on their own. I expect The Voyage to be similarly enjoyable. The Voyage will launch at a sale price of 99¢ later this week, so keep an eye out for it.

Could be good, will keep an eye on this at least.

  • James Cameron

I found the curse a bit of a torture with the extremely difficult levels like marble solitaire and this looks like it has those horrible make-every-row-add-up-to-15 number puzzles which I detest but I'm sure there'll be lots to like

    • MojoBonesLtd

Hey James, Mojo Bones team here.

Difficulty curve is something we worked really hard to improve with The Voyage. It wasn't until the feedback started rolling in from The Curse that we could get a true handle on what player's liked/disliked. Puzzles can be very subjective. Timed puzzles seemed to be a big issue and they've been almost fully removed this time around (apart from puzzles that make sense to feature a timer).

In general, people felt The Curse was too hard so we've removed those tougher starting puzzles, and kept the more difficult stuff for the final stretch. In general, the curve feels a lot fairer this time around. Earning hints was also a request which has been added.

Almost all of the game's improvements have been taken from player feedback, so we need to say a big thanks to all the fans who sent us their feedback and left reviews etc.

Thanks for this. It's great when devs really engage with constructive feedback from people! I'm really looking forward to the game.

      • MojoBonesLtd

        No worries Kiltedsheep,

We hope you enjoy the game. Continue to pass on your feedback once the game is released too. info@mojobones.co.uk for all your needs :)

Thanks. Great to get a reply from the devs and to discover so much thought went into this follow up. Looking forward to download. Sadly my card got swiped by a faulty ATM and I have to wait for my new card to arrive before I buy it. Oh misere! Can't wait!

  • Donny K76

Thrilled to hear that there is a sequel and that it's coming out this week!!

    • MojoBonesLtd

Thanks Donny. Did you get through The Curse? We're looking forward to seeing how quickly you folks manage to solve the mystery this time - we were pretty amazed at how fast some people cracked the last game.

    • Donny K76

Not quite yet, but I enjoy the challenges and achievements. This will probably be my GOTW!

  • CooleTeeps

I am definitely getting 'The Voyage' because I absolutely loved 'The Curse'. It was very challenging but I liked that about it. Count me in Mojo Bones!

    P.S.
Does anyone know if they are gonna have widescreen support for 'The Curse'?

    • MojoBonesLtd

      Hi CooleTeeps,

We're discussing widescreen support for The Curse. Unfortunately, we developed/released the game prior to the new resolution, so the upgrade isn't a simple job.

Still something we'd like to get working on once The Voyage has launched. We're also planning our first free update for The Voyage which will land a few weeks after launch.

      Thanks for your support!

I absolutely love "The Curse" ! I have not finished it (78/100 complete, have been playing it on and off for over a year) but I really like it that the puzzles are so hard. I find many other games' puzzles to easy. Absolutely looking forward to "The Voyage" and wonder how many years it will take me to solve it :D

    • MojoBonesLtd

      Hey Paul,

Have no fear: we've still got some devilishly hard stuff in The Voyage. The difficulty curve has simply been adjusted so that the tougher puzzles don't feel so out of place.

A year of puzzle solving and still going strong! We're flattered :)

      Hope you enjoy The Voyage.

    Hello MojoBonesLtd,

First time i played this game it immediately transported me to one of my favorite games of all time. Monkey Island 3. Your art style is so enjoyable and refreshing that i think that it could be used as a platform for more ambitious projects :). Thank You for the Game :)

Hi Diogo, thanks for the compliments. Our next game is releasing for 3DS (titled Siesta Fiesta) but it's also got a colourful art style. If you have one, perhaps take a look.

  • MojoBonesLtd

Thanks! Monkey Island 3 is a game we often look at in regards to art style and tone. Don't worry, I think all our games will have have a slightly whacky edge to them. It's in our nature :)
