It's Wednesday again, which means precisely one thing in the iOS world: An onslaught of brand new games, hitting the US App Store in about twelve hours. All of these games should be live on the US App Store at 11:00 PM Eastern, or potentially earlier if the developers decide to throw the release switch. If you live in a different iTunes region that isn't the USA, well, these games might already be available for you to buy.

Just like last week, I'll be streaming all of these games on our Twitch channel starting at 4:00 PM Eastern. Be sure to head over there and follow us so you get a notification when it starts. The Wednesday new game streams have been incredibly popular, so hopefully we can keep that gravy train rolling.

Anyway, here's what we're expecting to see tonight:

  • ineptidude

omg FFVI finally I'm going to pee myself in anticipation!

    • bigjack66

      What! All day?

    • Tyler Piderit

      I'm peeing right now!

  • defunct32

Final Fantasy VI? *faints* someone throw me a Fenix Down, please!

    • ImJPaul

      Phoenix*

      Sorry to be that guy.

      • jterrel

*Fenix, actually, in Final Fantasy III (SNES).

      • defunct32

        *high five* :D

      • defunct32

FFVI is out on my app store but it requires iOS7 oh dear...

      • xx99

What's the reason you're not on iOS 7 yet? If it's a hardware limitation, I get it. If it's to keep a jailbreak, well, iOS 7 has been jailbroken. Anything else I'm not aware of?

      • Ph0lly

iOS 7 is shit, but if you use it you should already know that.

      • Themostunclean

If you actually had a legitimate problem with it, using that language would keep anyone from taking your opinion seriously. I've had zero problems apart from the types of bugs expected when revamping and redesigning an OS. Go try a Windows phone if you really want a bad experience to compare to.

      • defunct32

Nope, my iPod 5 is not jailbroken, no plans to, I love iOS 6 too much. My nephew has iOS 7, played with it, tried it, didn't like it, I'm planning to get a Mini or a 6th Gen iPod touch (if and when it's out so that'll be my latest iDevice while the 5th will be on 6).

      • ImJPaul

Hmm. I do not recall this whatsoever. Guess I'll find out in 3 and a half hours.

      • defunct32

Recall what? That "Fenix" was used instead of Phoenix? Limitation on SNES, yeah.

  • http://forceofhab.it/ Ashley

Thank you for including Toast Time here. :)

  • GrumpyM

Hmm, modern command looks very interesting. Very nervous about EA free to play games though. Hopefully it's got some kind of sensible monetization scheme - the theme and look of the game are appealing to me.

    • Onikage725

      It's Chillingo

      • alex13111

Sorry to say, but EA owns Chillingo now

      • GrumpyM

Chillingo, a division of Electronic Arts, is a leading games publisher on iOS with numerous award-winning hits around the world including Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Contre Jour, and Anomaly Warzone Earth. The company also publishes games for Android, Windows Phone 7, Steam, and other digital platforms.

      • nini

For three years, it might be part of EA but it doesn't have play by the mothership's rules.

      • nimu

Yes, EA has become a bitch

  • Fangbone

Not into FF and everything else looks blah. TWAU where are you!?!?!?

    • chief78

Agreed....gonna save money for next week or whenever something worthwhile comes along

  • Broli95

I hope Dungelot 2 comes out as well

    • ste86uk

      Won't hit tonight sorry

  • armilla

Now here's a week getting excited
    For! FFVI, galcon, and Eliss.

  • Revognah

I swear to god I'll make such a scene if FFVI doesn't release tonight. Maybe put a hole in the wall with my fist, or, idk, something with fire perhaps.

  • http://www.onebagtravel.com/ OneBagTravel

There's so many things that could be wrong with this port. Like a busted save system, poor controls etc. I'll wait for reviews.

    • XianZhuXuande

Android users got to play the part of beta testers to iOS users. I imagine part of the delay was the game-breaking bug they had to patch on Android, but who knows.

Heard it will include cloud-synced saves. My money's on a problem being there if a noteworthy problem exists. Something iOS specific, cloud-synced saves seem to cause fuss for multiple developers, and I think this is the first time Square Enix is including it.

  • falco

I think Avoid and Eliss Infinity for me

  • bigjack66

Mission Command looks nice. Got bored of FF years ago! Nothing much else . If nothing here suits you I've spotted a game called Line of Defence tactics by 3000 ad. It's like the isometric skycam view from iOS call of duty and looks quite nice just had a very brief go and plays quite well.

    • Bloodangel

Woah that 3000 ad game looks good

      • Bloodangel

Prob best release this week for me and it wasn't in release list

  • chamillion205

Guess I'll save my money till next week. Back to dust force on my vita!

  • Brian E

Really looking forward to Galcon Legends!

  • Bloodangel

    Still no "out there"!!
Said fall 2013 about 3 months ago... Only 3 weeks left till spring

  • bigjack66

Oops forgot to mention LoD is free and I haven't seen any iap yet.

    • TimTim92

      LoD?

      • bigjack66

        Line of defence.

  • Pete Osborne

Great week for me; Avoid, The Quest, Toast Time and Threes! are definite purchases and I'm enjoying Piecemaker and Naughty Kitties so far. Eliss and Kahuna culd be good too - a very nice indie week!

    • shadax

This is a refreshing comment. I've been playing one or two games each week, but this is the first time in about 6 weeks that not every comment Is "LAAAAAME. THIS WEEK SUX!"

FF has a part in it obviously, but the line up does seem it may resuscitate Wednesday night release joy for once.

  • jammyman

Still nothing on brothers in arms 3 :(

    • Mess

There was something in the forum the other week about it being delayed as they were reworking something.

  • H4nd0fg0d

A week devoid of anything interesting.

    • Pete Osborne

You say that every week haha, what kind of games do you enjoy? I'll keep an eye out for them and post if any turn up

  • MichaelJS

Sat waiting for Modern Combat 5 :-( I saw 'Modern' and started to tremble. Oh well, soon I hope. Brothers In Arms 3 too. Really not sure about anything else again tonight and not into Final Fantasy sadly. Back to Ridge Racer Slipstream :-)

    • bigjack66

Got really bored of ridge racer only bought it for 99c to see if anything had changed in 20 years and apart from some nice graphics it still sucks as much as the original one.

  • Pete Osborne

It's also worth mentioning a few others that came out in the last few days:

Platforms Unlimited (99c) [U] - Fantastic brutal randomised platformer, no IAPs and a great vocal dev on forums.
Spell Quest (Free) [U] - Genuinely smart word game/RPG crossover. Very fair with IAP and another good visible dev.
Cloudbreakers (99c) [U] - Charming level-based climber with no IAPs, loads of fun and a great story about its conception in the forums.
RPG Journey to Kreisia ($3.99) [U] - KEMCO RPG so pretty predictable but a reliable experience nonetheless. Launch sale.
Gene ($1.99) [U] - Platformer that looks and feels very retro, reminds me of Putty Squad and a few other classics. Currently on sale.

Plus some great freebies like Wingdot SD/HD, Stellar Wars, Monsters Rising, Space Qube and Hip Hop Berserker

    • Fangbone

      Spellquest is very good

      • http://www.baconbanditgames.com/ markjasmith

This is always nice to hear, thank you!

    • http://www.baconbanditgames.com/ markjasmith

I'm one of the devs of Spell Quest: Grimm's Journey. Thanks for mentioning it, and I'm really happy that everyone seems to be enjoying it!

  • eventide

    FF6....EEEYESSSSSS!!

  • littlenicky44

Hey so I'm thinking about picking ff6 up from the New Zealand store with a gift card. Anyone have any reasons why that's a bad idea?

    • benadvanced

I'm concerned how the controls will translate to the touchscreen. Specifically Sabin's blitz moves.

  • heresandypandy

Played FFVI to death, but I'll buy it one last time in support of what is arguably the greatest RPG ever made.

  • nicodemus82

Broken Sword 5 & FFIV for me.. Maybe Galcon too!

    • nicodemus82

      *FFVI

  • curtneedsaride

FF VI & Broken Sword 5 have been high on my list. Seems I'll be set for the next year! Or until next week Wednesday night. Like usual.

  • JammyJams

I read "FF VI" and I pooped. A little.

  • http://www.threeboy.net Threeboy

Final Fantasy with weirdly upsized sprites - I think I'll dust off my PlayStation and just play that version that wasn't fuxed with as much.

  • otakuzod

Final Fantasy VI for me, too. I've been earmarking a good portion of an iTunes gift card just for this. It's taken more patience than I ever thought I had...

  • Retro Nug

FFVI is def coming out tonight?? If so, then it's about time! Super excited to relive this classic.

  • Bowflexman

Where the hell is Dungelot 2?

    • Bloodangel

      Yeah and out there :(

  • gora

Meh. Anyone have any hidden gems not listed here?

  • Billy Ocean

watch ff IV not be optimized for widescreen lol

    • Billy Ocean

and then be ff IV accidentally too

  • ste86uk

Waiting for TWAU to hit with ep2

  • IdudItz

I got toast time from a code in the live stream. Soo addicting

    • IdudItz

      And Three! looks fun too
