amazing2We don't usually post about iPhone cases, but these are pretty clever in that they're actually games in case form. So, in the event that you're totally out of battery and still want to play a game, you can wind the clocks back to the days of only having enough tickets at the arcade for a spider ring and the ball maze.

Pure Gear is selling them for $29.99 and they actually come in three varieties: The maze you see here, a circular multi-ball puzzle, and a Plinko-style Magic 8 ball question answering thing. 9 to 5 Mac has a review up of the cases, and they're "incredibly pleased" with them, although the side angle shot does make it look a little thick for my tastes.

Anyway, these just caught our collective eyes and we thought they were clever. ...And if you're interested in getting extra meta, you could even play Labyrinth [Free] or Labyrinth 2 [$4.99] while solving a labyrinth on your case. That's neat, right?

    30$ for that? Hell no.

    • Eli Hodapp

*sigh* Of COURSE this is the response to this story.

      • nini

        Yep, can't argue with that.

      • Mirkwood

He probably would like it better if it was 99 cents. Or free with some IAP

  • Xissoric

Looks pretty cool, I'd probably pick one up for 20 bucks, maybe 25.

Crazy responses by people who clearly have no idea how much people spend on cases. This is actually a neat idea and I can imagine a lot of takers for this.

April fool day ? Come on dude, we're in september !

  • exvitaexire

Its for iphone 5/5c just in case people didnt see thay

  • Captain Cabnasty

I rather put that $30 into buying a mophie case to extend my battery life, and not have to worry about my phone dying.

  • jeffyg3

Just for a little crappy ball game people will probably never play except when they get the case...that case simply just makes the phone larger than it needs to be. Kind of worthless, plus to me, it makes it look like a cheap child's toy.

    • darkcheetah

In the future, the iPhone will be a cheap child's toy.

I'm probably going to get one when I get my iPhone 5S.

  • Ollivar Frank

    No iPod 5 🙁

  • famousringo

I already have a chunky case that lets me play games when my battery is dead. It's called a Mophie and it lets me play thousands of awesome video games instead of one lame puzzle.

  • pdSlooper

Cripes, folks, it's just a novelty item. It's meant to make you go "that's cute" or "that's neat" and smile. A novelty isn't meant to be the most practical item in your life. Yeesh.

I like it, personally. I love hands-on games, and I remember these little Labyrinth puzzles were a hit when I was a kid (I think they were a "retro" thing, because my parents and grandparents were really interested in them).

They're noisy, though. I can't imagine using this case if it rattles a lot. :/

    • Eli Hodapp

Makes me wonder what these people would be like inside of a store that stocks Fred products-

      Just IMAGINE the outrage!

      • pdSlooper

That link made my day. More babies need mustache pacifiers.

  • dariusjr98

A lot of you whining really don't seem to appreciate how much gaming has evolved. I for one think this case is neat, and I would definitely consider getting it.

Ah, TouchArcade and GameFAQs users: Slowly but surely decreasing my faith in humanity.

    • darkcheetah

You still have faith? You're more patient than I am...

  • Lostpop21

    Hell, i'd get one.

  • Carvool

I feel like this would just make my pocket really noisy.

More plastic crap to fill the ocean. Yay!

  • Nycteris

It's very clever, but would the ball in the maze rattle continuously as you carry your phone/try to play tilt games?

  • REkzkaRZ

Sorry, but the idea that I'd want to carry THAT around all day?!?!? C'mon!
