Are you wild about Square Enix's Guardian Cross [Free], but wish it had more... Zombies? (Is that even a thing people wish?) Well, you're in luck as the team behind Guardian Cross is on the cusp of releasing a brand new game that we suspect is going to play a whole lot like Guardian Cross which you can read about in our review.

Deadman's Cross is coming this winter, and I just hope it improves on the Guardian Cross formula, as the original was resoundingly "just OK" with some pretty skeezy free to play elements that turned me off of it pretty quick. Stay tuned, and we'll see if that has changed or not in this pseudo-sequel.

    Awesome! Another card game!
I wont be satisfied until there are 1 million card games on app store and all of the should be free!
    Bring it!

    • defunct32

But finding the best one would be a difficult task!

      • Rubicon Development

Not really, just type in "Combat Monsters" 🙂

I think it's the only ccg announcement that TA have ignored, so I guess I'm pimping it myself...

      • Bloodangel

        Can't find this combat monsters

      • Eseres

I can't find this Combat Monsters either 😛 But i've noticed that not all of the titles that TA reviews/plays is in everybodys AppStore. I live in Norway, so i guess that im using the european AppStore, and it wasn't there.

But are these card based rpg's doing well at all? I mean... I love zombies and zombie games, but a card zombie game??? Isn't that kind of boring? Well, i guss i'll be checking this one out just for the heck of it though.

Rubicon - how's the development of Combat Monsters going for ios?

      • Rubicon Development

It's pretty much ready for submission. The notices went out a week ago. There is a PC Beta available right now from our website in the meantime. 🙂

      Collect them all!

On the note of card games, are there any premium ones on the app store (other than mtg, because that's iPad only) that are actually fun to play?

    • Evolution888

I highly recommend Solforge, it's F2P, so you can try it out either on Steam or iPad. iPhone/iTouch support is rolling out soon too

    • Evolution888

It's created by the same group who made Ascension. Most of the dev team is comprised of M:TG pros such as Brian Kibler and Justin Gary. TA needs to write a news story on this too

Isn't the idea of action games as card battlers more than a little stupid?

    • Earth Vs. Me

Online play is the sole vaidation of virtual card games. Same goes for virtual board games.

      • Bloko

In general the point is that you won't spend so much money as you would to get real cards, plus you usually have an IA to play anytime you want.
Now if you're not into card games in general, then that's another story...

    • Bloko

Any game can be a little stupid. Which determines that is not the genre, but how badly can devs use an idea. In other words, any idea can become a great game if handled the right way.
