It's another Wednesday, and while we're scrambling to get ready for WWDC and E3, the App Store isn't giving us any kind of reprieve. There's been quite a few great updates that have already landed today, and now there's a proper onslaught of games for us to fiddle with tonight.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers

First Impressions: TA Plays 'Kingdom Rush Frontiers' - It's Like 'Kingdom Rush' With Some More 'Kingdom Rush' Thrown In

After playing Kingdom Rush: Frontiers a bit, it's clear that it definitely delivers one thing: more Kingdom Rush [Free / Free (HD)]. In other words, it doesn't break the mold; it adds to it. The new towers, new heroes, a new world, new enemies, and the addition of hero skill trees enhance an experience that its predecessor laid the groundwork for. It's a pretty good game almost by default since the first was great to begin with.

First Impressions: TA Plays: 'Scurvy Scallywags' - Hands-On With Ron Gilbert's New Puzzle Game

Scurvy Scallywags is an enormous breath of fresh air if you've been spending a bunch of time with the current generation of match-3 games. You know, the kind that ask for real money in exchange for power-ups constantly? Yeah, those. Scurvy, quite refreshingly, is a real puzzle game that tasks you with matching like items. It's not gross. In fact, it is pretty charming. From the art, to the character and sound design, all the way to its power-ups, it's a pretty inviting game that has cheeriness and style to share. Also, pirates. And skeletons.

Great, GREAT night for defense games, and a great week in general. So many good games to dig into!

Oh, and by the way, Kinetic Damage came out the other day, it looks pretty awesome, and the devs put a lot of time into it based on the trailers, so you should check it out. They didn't pay me to say this, I just want to bring attention to it.

  • handycapman

Sparkle 2: because once wasn't enough.

    • dancj

I loved Sparkle: The Game. In only hesitant because I think that might have burnt me out on Zuma-type games.

  • PureRumble

Oh yes oh yes Bridgy Jones! 😀 sometimes i thought i would never again get another level-based puzzle game, but this is soooo good 😀

At least i hope so, it looks promising enough. Gonna get it tomorrow!

  • Samuel Strickland

    Holy defense games.
Looks like a good night. I'm sure I'll enjoy the new Kingdom Rush and I'm interested in 9th Dawn and Titan if they manage to execute on their premises. Kyubo looks cool from a narrative perspective but those puzzles don't look like I'd care much for them.

  • valkuryn

WHAT!!!! Only one free to play game??? What is this. I don't understand we pay once and get the entire game? Hmmm nice concept. LoL looking forward to a few of tonight's games especially kingdom rush and with a update to FFT, playing KOTOR man just not enough hours in the day. I love having this problem. Much better than the slow start to the year that's for sure.

  • skeblik

    What a lame week 🙁

    • dariusjr98

      Get out.

      • Davidprimer

        It is a lame week.

      • MidianGTX

        Get out.

      • dariusjr98

        What he said.

  • thiefwriter

    No mention of Kinetic Damage?

  • Mrwubbs

    Quadropus rampage got delayed 🙁

  • caaalrb

I wish 9th Dawn controlled more like Bastion. That being said, it's probably the best game (for me, at least) that I've played in my phone in months.

  • ElectromagneticMelaniePulse

Does the new Kingdom Rush have the same hard paywall as the first one? I can't really complain about the first game, since I got it while it was free, but if it has the same degree of paywall then I really have no interest in a sequel.

    • blackbear219

Lots of people beat that game before the IAP was even added. There was no paywall, you just suck.

  • Silent Rocco

Only a listing of iTunes descriptions? Makes this article seem pretty lazy. I don't wanna read the dev's selling text.

  • Playpunk

Wow! Tower defense fanatics make out! Should keep me busy for awhile. Alas, no agricola STILL! Been waiting too long.

  • TheFrost

    No iTunes links?

Also, there is an accidental release on that list that, I dont know, shouldnt be there? Game is fantastic btw (LL)

  • TheFrost

Scurvy Scallywags is terrific and so is Color Zen

    • TheFrost

Oh, and Bridgy Jones too! fantastic week!

  • iValerio90

poor week..nothing. gameloft,ea and freemium suck

    • dariusjr98

Oh my god…please go away and NEVER come back! NO ONE likes you!

      • iValerio90

        sorry kid...i dont give a s***...i do,write,go whatever and wherever i want...u are nothing...bye bye kid

    • MidianGTX

This doesn't even make sense. Where's all the Gameloft, EA and freemium stuff you're complaining about?

      • dariusjr98

That's what I'm saying. iValerio, the reason I don't like you is because you're so redundant, you're like a freakin broken record. You say "F*ck freemium f*ck Gameloft" in EVERY comments section, even when it's completely irrelevant. Also, you're not that smart, you have awful grammar, and you keep calling me a kid because you have no better comebacks.

      • iValerio90

        f**k freemium f**k ea and f**k gameloft...oh and BIG F**K for kabam

      • dariusjr98

        One more...f*ck YOU.

  • Ben Norvell

Does anybody see anything here worth picking up (besides KR frontiers)?

    • TheFrost

Bridgy Jones, Scurvy Scallywags to name just two, great week man!

  • Zetaspawn

This is one of the least appealing weeks for me in a long time, everything here looks like quickly made junk.

    • TheFrost

I sense a graphic whore with no gameplay whatsoever inside? 😉

  • phonecats

newish kingdom rush and everplay game yayayay!

  • jamarohn

Scurvy Scallywags is really fresh and fun. Haven't had this much fun with a match 3 game since 1000000000. And for a buck!
