Podcast-Illustration-0121This week on The TouchArcade Show, we manage to do a pretty good job talking about iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch video games. After a rousing discussion about Beef Stick Mouth, I dive into why I'm all about Rodeo Games's upcoming strategy title Warhammer Quest. Jared talks about WazHack and Daddy Was A Thief, and Eli praises Dig! and some other notables. See? I told you we stayed on topic!

    Good show.
I think everyone's on the same page now. IAP is a fail unless it just unlocks part of the game.

Have we reached a point in mobile where there's a 1% (whales) that they are designing games for?

  • grits

You guys are going to love blitz brigade. A really great game (Seriously)

Where you can purchase one gun for $20 and there's no other way to unlock it (Not so great) Of course I guess you can always sign up for a credit card and then you might be able to buy two guns :/
I have to get into it more though. It really is a well-made game. It's unclear if those guns are overpowered or just unique. Either way if this were a premium game with no in app purchases, I would say it would be a game of the year candidate. Sad?

I like your daring viewpoints on this subject. I will tell you have got a passion for writing.

What's up with the way Eli says "museum?"

  • Josh Dombro

You said if you put IAP in your game you messed up, but I don't completely agree with this. I think the first way that Ace Patrol charged users is the right away, they give you a demo of a really good game, and if you want the whole game you have to pay. I'm totally okay with that, and really prefer it in a lot of ways. I don't think anyone disagrees that charging money for continues is gross. There are plenty of gross forms of IAPs, but I think it's unfair to say ALL IAPs are wrong.
