We're guessing this news is going to make a Boston-bound Eli happy. Wizards of the Coast have just revealed Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers is indeed coming, and it'll be at PAX East this week. The game, which is set for release across iPad, Android, XBLA, PSN and Steam, will feature 10 new decks, 15 new encounters, 10 new puzzle challenges, and a new game mode. It'll also give players a first look at 2014 Core, which is cool.

Everybody attending PAX East is invited to check out the upcoming game. Wizards will be dishing out opportunities to "earn exclusive Chandra-themed items" on the floor, too, in addition to other stuff like compete against pros.

The Duels series is great for rookies and Magic veterans alike. Magic 2013 was the first version of the game that saw a release on iPad, and it was an excellent port. We imagine 2014 will just build on this foundation.

There was never an iPhone release...

    What an incredibly useless video.

Lets be clear here, when they say iOS, android and PSN what devices are we talking about, title is very misleading.

      I second this.

      Tablets no doubt.

    • MrSpud

It specifically says it's coming to iPad, it doesn't say anywhere it's coming to iOS in general, just you saying that. The title of the article doesn't say anything about what platform it's going to be on. So yeah, let's be clear.

I wish they would stop with the yearly releases and just give us an all inclusive experience with all the cards and the ability to build our decks from scratch. I would have no problem dropping $1000 in that app. I want my black lotus!

Interesting timing... just last night I was installing Steam on my MBP (deleted the Win 7 vm) and realized none of my Magic games were available for Mac, doh! I wonder if 2014 will be, or if I'm resigned to just playing the iOS version on my iPad.....

  • Wizard_Mike

Love 2013 on my iPad, it brought me back into Magic after not playing it since the Ice Age expansion of the physical game. Definitely looking forward to 2014, although I imagine I will probably need to finally upgrade my old iPad 1 to play it, heh.

  • Sloany

Bit gutted. Had 2013 on XBL and steam for about a year but not played it much then I finally caved and bought my 1st ipad last week and bought 2013 for that!!! If I knew this was coming I would of waited!! Or will it be available via IAP??

  • XvEsunavX

Bring it to itouch, shut up, and take my money

  • Ninjawerebadger

Who cares the 2013 app was awful, give us a MtGO client for iOS

  • grits

Cross platform play? If yes ill buy in

  • Wizard_Mike

Ok, finally watched the trailer with sound. Someone gave this the green light to be released to the public? That was horrible! Never in my mind did I imagine a reckless, rage-filled pyromancer to sound like she came out of wizards of waverly place or something. Ugh...

  • MarqueeK

So all the stuff I got for 2013 will go to waste?
If that's the case I'm out.

  • UnSurreal

I didn't buy any of the new IAP packs for 2013, but looking forward to 2014.

    Krenko makes me cranky.

  • Benegesserit

Nope. Doesn't let you create decks with your entire card pool, just a toddler's playpen of boundaries only letting you swap a small handful from prebuilt decks. Same old garbage. Only good for people who haven't played any MTG before including any previous Plainswalker games.

    • Kaspian Oaken

Actually it does. With Sealed Deck play you get boosters that fill up your deck pool and you build your own decks.

      • Mikko Saarinen

Yep. In my books thats the most significant change they have made to the game so far. I only wish there would be an option to play real sealed deck tournaments in multiplayer mode instead of the current system where you play with your premade decks from the single player campaign.
