Ever since Brad "Cat Oppressor" Nicholson unceremoniously nixed the Jared's Kitty Korner segment from our podcast, there has been an outpouring of support from the legion of Kitty Korner fans demanding its reinstatement. Yes, all three of you made quite a bit of noise, but alas it just doesn't look like it's in the cards.

Depressing, I know, but there's no way I'll let "The Man" silence my cat obsession as long as I've got the written word. That's why I'm here to tell you about Clumsy Cat, a new release from Dingo Games, who you may remember brought Laser Dolphin [$2.99 / $4.99 (HD)] and Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds [$2.99 / $4.99 (HD)] to the iOS platform.

In Clumsy Cat, you play a kitty who's roaming around the house, doing kitty things that kitties aren't supposed to be doing like climbing on bookshelves and furniture. Your goal is to wreck all the objects that are decorating the room by knocking them down as you walk by. This is demonstrated pretty well in the game's trailer.

If you ask me, I don't think this is necessarily a case of a cat being clumsy, but more just a cat being a cat. Cats are jerks, they like to wreck stuff because they're bored and restless after sleeping 18 hours a day, and so what do you expect them to do huh? If you're liking the look of Clumsy Cat then mark your calendars for next week when it hits the App Store as a free Universal app.

I miss kitty korner. Discussing crappy cat games was the most entertaining part of the show...

Looks like lovely fun! I once made an iPhone game called Karate Girl Destruction Run in which your mission is quite similar: take revenge by destroying as much property in the randomly generated rooms of the mob boss! I even started a game called Giant Destructive Monsterthings in which you could destroy a whole city, but then its speed needs broke the physics engine I was working with :) :/

hah, I immediately thought of KGDR when I saw this. Love your games btw, wish I still had an iPad.

Looks great, on my watch list. Btw, there's more than 3 of us who like cats

Omg yes! Looks like so much fun! Hope that music is actually in the game! And I agree kitty corner was the best. Why not add it back in and just make the podcast longer?! I'm sure the TA community wouldn't mind =]

Why am I so mesmerized by this game? I'm strangely drawn to playing it. Must... have... want... now...

  • ElPumo

This looks like a fun game. Hope you can play as a puma too.

I've picked up the game. The gameplay itself is quite a bit of fun but they really did a lousy job of encouraging you to play, there is is only 2 or 3 configurations to the house and there is no monetary system meaning you can't save up to purchase anything. Sure there is like 25 animals to pick up but there is only one way to get them and the is to spend real cash to unlock all of them. It's kind of an odd set up.
If they added at least 3 more houses and had learned a few things about upgrades from games like jet pack joyride it might have been one of my favorite games of the year. But as is its failing to keep me coming back. I hope the do a sequel that addresses these issues.
