Coming Tonight: ‘Earn to Die’, ‘Forest Guardians’, ‘Lili’, ‘Lunar’, ‘The Room’ and Much More

With the release of the iPhone 5 (and iOS 6) upon us, this has been one heck of a weird week for game releases. Developers seem to be employing a few different strategies between releasing their games early to avoid any weirdness with the iOS 6 App Store to holding their games for Friday to just avoiding releasing this week entirely. …And we’ve got a whole different pool of developers with large existing catalogs that seem to have existed solely on pizza and Red Bull since the iPhone 5 announcement to get their games ready for the different screen size. So, here’s both what’s been released so far this week as well as what’s coming tonight at 11:00 PM Eastern:

Crafty Creatures, 99¢Forum Thread – A physics puzzler from Chillingo that seems to centralize around user-generated content between creating craftily creating your own creatures as well as building and sharing your own levels. 50 levels are included if you’re not into the whole sharing thing.

Earn to Die, 99¢ / HDForum Thread – A see how far you can drive game that among other things seems to feature a rocket-powered school bus. As someone who’d always race as the school bus in Crusin’ USA, I’m totally onboard.

Forest Guardians, FreeForum Thread – A really crazy looking …tower defense… game? I’m totally intrigued, and can’t wait to see how it all goes together.

Lili, $4.99Forum Thread – High up on our most anticipated game lists comes this gem from Bit Monster. The art style looks great, and Apple even liked it enough to feature it during a keynote.

Lunar Silver Star Story Touch, $6.99Forum ThreadForum Thread – It feels like we first heard about the port of this classic RPG years ago. Regardless, it’s here now which should make some Lunar fans happy.

Naila, FreeForum Thread – A 2.5D action-y platform puzzler that seems to be loaded with hazards to avoid. 18 levels in all are included, as well as some bonus levels.

Rayman Jungle Run, $2.99Forum Thread – This fantastic auto-runner was released earlier this week, but I’m including this here in case this is where you get your weekly game release info from.

Recess Riot, 99¢Forum Thread – From the dudes behind Super Mega Worm comes a game that seems to be filled with various playground-centric mini games. There’s also retro skins, including the scan lines you see above.

Red Dart Fighter, Free / HDForum Thread – If you were a fan of Wings of Valor, here’s another game in the same vein.

Street Fighter X Tekken Mobile, $2.99Forum Thread – Another surprise release this morning, but I’m including it here for the same reasons as Rayman.

The Room, $4.99Forum Thread – Brad has had his muscular hands all over this game in a preview, give it a look if you want to see what this puzzler is all about.

Thrust Magic, FreeForum Thread – Hey fans of the original Thrust, here’s a neat looking homage that also happens to be free.
