Per a recent tweet by Id Software's John Carmack, the Rage-based Mutant Bash TV that we previewed not long ago was approved, and according to John, should be available tomorrow morning. Unlike the other games coming out tonight and tomorrow, Mutant Bash TV doesn't seem to be available anywhere else internationally. This could mean a few things- First off, since it was just approved, it may need some time to filter out to the App Store. Alternatively, Id could just be throwing the switch in iTunes Connect sometime tomorrow morning.

Either way, we can't wait to get our hands on the full version of the game.

Haven't really seen in game footage. Dunno if I'll buy yet.

  • benj

Just read this is on rails; I'd be interested to see what people think of it, but personally I'll avoid. Disappointing.

Maybe now this is out of the way John can get Doom 2 released? :P

  • QuéBec_RaGe

Who would have tought we would see graphics of this quality on the iPhone. Looks good but really too much like a enhanced version of Doom Ressurection (which is not a bad thing for some of you, guys). Gameloft proved that real FPS are really playables iDevices. I don't get with ID still produce on-rails or RPG versions of their franchises.

    • tsharpfilm

My guess is to appeal to more people. Either way, I'm getting this. It may be on-rails, but there's still plenty of fun to be had with the aiming, shooting, and eye candy. For $0.99, what more could you ask for? :-)

      • Namegoeshere

I don't think on-rail shooters appeal to more people, they probably appeal to less. However I will be buying the HD version tomorrow, just to see the awesome graphics.

  • UnbornZombie

Why the hell would I want to play a rail shooter which IMO is the worst genre out there.

    • EastsideStompers

Bt surely the match 3 genre is the crowning turd in the water pipe?; )

I have no words to describe my gigantic delusion with Doom: Ressurection. When I saw the graphics, i almost cried. When i saw it was a GODDAMNED rail shooter, I've almost had a seizure.

    Srsly, if it is a rail shooter, f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it f**k it.

Well, while you have a hissy fit the rest of us will be playing a kick ass game.

      • Me

How can you vouch for everyone? You and me could be the only ones playing the game. I don't think I have ever heard anyone calling an on-rail shooter "kick ass". On-rails are pretty lame, in most cases :(

      • swarmster

Are you serious? Duck Hunt was kick ass and there wasn't even a rail! Res is one of the greatest games ever made. Panzer Dragoon is incredibly popular. Light gun games have done pretty well for decades. Dead Space Extraction was good.

"On rail" shooters have been getting increasingly impressive and involved, and I can't wait for this one.

      • swarmster

        Res = Rez, sorry. Wow.

      • swarmster

Oh, and I forgot Star Fox. I'm pretty sure a couple people like those games, too.

      • Me

Listen, did I ever say that in all cases on-rail shooters are lame. I said "in most cases" on rail-shooters are lame. Yes, I was serious, I never heard anyone call any game that was on-rails a "kick ass" game. I don't like on-rail shooters(Just my opinion), and sorry I don't like any of the games you listed except for Duck Hunt which was awesome for it's time.

Light gun games are on rails yes, but you cannot compare a touch screen on rails game, to a light gun version. Same mechanic, very different.

Besides, they all suck compared to Alien 3, The Gun, in the arcades. :)

  • AL1R3ZA

just can say i have a fucking night for this!

  • MicroByte

Can't wait, getting the HD version in all it's glory!

  • Lam

I don't like games locked to "rails." Sigh

  • x999x

Can Gameloft just get a Rage devkit and do it some real FPS justice plx, kthxbai.

  • torsktunga

Im sure this will be a solid game, thought I am more interested in Infinity Sword. It looks in some way alot better and have a more interesting gameplay from what I have seen. But Im sure I will enjoy this too!

  • Lam

I'll still buy because it's the price of a Starbucks tall mild. The rail debate is simple - the iDevices currently can't handle the free-roaming. It would beg for too many polies. At least with it on rails the game is playable. I expect "off rail" games with bloated graphics in the near future.

Im taking a chance on this because, i enjoyed doom resurrection, and for £1.19 universal I cant really say no. Its a sweet price point for iPhone 4/iPad compatibility and it deserves to be rewarded. (EA take note, thank you.)lets see how it goes!

Jesus! 753mb! yeah this will be one for the iPad not my phone! :-D
