Yesterday we caught wind of a set of Gundam games and apps courtesy of Japanese video game magazine Famitsu. All of these games are currently playable at the Tokyo Game Show, and our friends over at AppBank have posted hands-on videos. We still don't know much about these games, or if they'll even be released in English on the US App Store, but quite a few people are excited for them judging by the comments from yesterday.

Gundam Fighting Spirit - A fighting game where players are pit against other mobile suits.

Gundam G Generation Touch - A strategy RPG with what sounds like tons of content with additional suits to unlock.

NDAM Tool Box - A Gundam-themed dashboard-like app lets you launch things like Safari, Mail, and other apps.

The Gundam suite of games and apps is scheduled for release this winter, but as I already mentioned, we still haven't heard whether this will be a Japanese-only release or not.

Hope it's no 3rd Gen Exclusive Crap.

I thought Apple didn’t care for alternate desktops/launchers. (Not that I much care for them myself either.)

fighting game and launcher looks like crap.

The srpg looks pretty awesome. Too bad 90% sure that will stay japanese only like all gundam srpg games.

    Licensing gundam is a bitch.

You can hear from the youtube video for the srpg that its going to be free and utilizing in-app purchasing for additional items and suits...Wonder how that'll affect the entire gameplay?

    Otherwise, I'm psyched :)

    • JPanther

My bad. They go on to say that you also need to buy additional "episodes" for further gameplay...

Sound like a Japanese mobile contract plan.

Very excited for the SRW style game, the sprites look really nice even if the animation is a bit cheap. Although the chance of it being released in English is anyone's guess. I'd definitely buy it if were to get an English release though, even though I'm not exactly a big Gundam fan.

The fighting game is looking quite like some of the other Gundam fighting games that have been released in the past, it all looks a bit clunky and weird. I doubt it would actually be an extremely deep or balanced game considering what it is.

I'm also excited for the Super Robot Wars style Gundam game. I'm holding on to my hope that it comes to the US. The SRW games usually have issues coming to the US because they contain IP that in the US belong to different rights holders.

This being a Gundam only game hopefully means that the right situation will be simpler and cheaper.

      I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm going to Tokyo Game Show and try these apps tomorrow. I'll ask staffs if English version will be available in the US app store.

I'm most interested in the SD Gundam Generation Touch game. But if they didn't bring any previous installments of the series here, whether DS, PSP, PS2, or even going all the way back to the excellent SFC games, I don't know how likely they are to suddenly let us have this one.

    It would be nice, though.

I'll definitely buy the RPG style game but I was a little disappointed with the lack of speech during battles. I think the iPhone can handle it as well as better graphics.

As for an English adaption? Not going to happen. We have a better chance of them porting the Super Robot Wars Original Generations series.

looking at the SRPG again, it looks like a port of the PSP installment.
