'Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter' Arrives for iPhone

Originally a PC game that was released in 1998, Carnivores places you into a first person hunting game where your targets are dinosaurs. I haven't figured out the fact that you are fictionally hunting extinct animals will placate or enrage the anti-hunting crowd, but I'm sure we'll find out soon.

The game features a 3D first person perspective to hunt down dinosaurs using up to six different weapons. Here's a gameplay video from the developers:

The game comes from Tatem Games who were also responsible for Racer for the iPhone. Fans of the series have been happy with the iPhone conversion of Carnivores.

    It's cool and all. When I first seen this I thought awesome... but after watching the video... I don't know... looks boring or something.
    Is there a campaign mode? Or is it just a random hunt for dinosaurs?

    Can't really say much about this game other than it's a MUST HAVE! :D

      Yep, definately a must have. I never played it on PC, but it's great on my iPhone, one of the best iPhone games I have ever played!

    I never played Carnivores on the PC, but one dinosaur game I really loved was Jurassic Park: Trespasser. If this game is anything like that, I might just buy it.

    I'm normally pretty opposed to hunting games, on account of it effectively being one-sided bullying of the animal kingdom, but the Carnivores games are awesome. It's because both sides are both hunter and prey. Hunting velociraptors with a crossbow is one of the manliest things ever, mark my words.

    Personally, I thought Carnivores 2 and Carnivores: Ice Age were better games -- with bigger hunting areas and bigger selections of game. But I might get this for old times sake.

    Anyway, this won't anger the animal rights crowd as much as the Africa hunting game coming out later this year. (After all, elephants don't eat you -- I think.)

    Man, this game brings back memories. And the second version. Not so much the third. Bought this the other day, and it is fantastic! Controls are perfect, sensitivity is just right, and all the beautiful memories of hunting or being hunted come flooding back. I love filling the trophy room up.

    Well done, Tatem. iPad version?
