Puzzle Quest 2, Infinite Interactive's follow-up to the RPG puzzle series, is slated to hit Xbox LIVE Arcade and the Nintendo DS this summer. But will it be released for the iPad and iPhone?

It's possible. In a conversation with us, game executive producer Tim Ramage said that both platforms are "viable platforms" for the game.

β€œAt the moment we are only announced for XBLA and DS but we are looking at all other platforms for possible opportunities," Ramage said via e-mail. "Both the iPad and iPhone would be viable platforms for Puzzle Quest 2 to be a part of.”

The original Puzzle Quest (Chapters 1 and 2) [App Store] launched on the App Store in December 2008 following the full game's Xbox LIVE Arcade release in October.

The iPhone port was met with middling reviews until perfomance updates brought it up to speed with its platform counterparts, but it's always maintained that magical mixture of Bejeweled-style match-three play with RPG trimmings. Definitely check it out if you're a puzzle game fan.

Puzzle Quest 1 is a perfect example of lazy programming and middle ware adversely effecting an application. Hopefully they build 2 as a native app and not use a wrapper to port it.

Agree totally, it's one of the few games I have deleted after paying for them. Very disappointing

I'm pretty sure that the Cider implimemtation of the first iPhone game doesn't pass the new iPhone dev agreement.

How about they release Chapter 3 of puzzle-quest before they go off and develop the sequel. These guys are some of the laziest developers alive.

    • SiDCrAzY

And you're too lazy to check the App Store to realize that Chapter 3 is out already.

I hope they fix all the bugs they had with their origional iphone port. I have lost my characters and games almost as much as I have with CAVERN..which just crashed and made me strat from scratch 20 minutes ago.

Would definitely like to see Puzzle Quest 2 on the iPad.

    • Deewin

agreed. The iphone version was an ok port but it the battles felt very limiting because I couldn't see the full portraits and special effects like I could in the PC/Console/PSP version.

Not a fan of the series, but I am glad software companies are realizing the gaming potential of the 'pad

I hope they do more than consider it and we actually get this one,and in one whole app too not in 2 or 3 chapters.

Well, I really hope to see PQ2, and moreover that they'll make a good port from the get-go. I have been playing PQ1 on and off for over a year and it is certainly one of the select few games for the platform with the most bang for the buck.
Too bad that rough beginnings and the looong time that the porting studio took to make it truly complete turned many folks off. It is truly a great game, IMHO.

I'm still waiting for a real Chapter 1-3 App of Puzzle Quest (1). I don't want to use In-App-Purchases.

Stop using the App store then. Not going to happen. In-app purchases are here to stay.
