As the early iPad section of the App Store fills out, we discovered that at least some of Gameloft's current iPad launch lineup.

The iPad games which appear to be launching along side the device are:

  • Asphalt 5 HD
  • Dungeon Hunter HD
  • Modern Combat: Sandstorm HD
  • NOVA HD
  • NFL 2010 HD
  • Let's Golf HD
  • Real Soccer 2010 HD
  • MicroByte

Awesome news about Gameloft, I was wondering where their games were.

Sadly I'll probably pick up Nova and Asphalt again since I loved them so much...

I don't thonk virtual sticks will work well on the ipad. Dungeon hunter should be cool though.

Actually, I think the virtual stick/buttons on the pad will be far better than they are on a cramped phone/touch.

      • spiffyone

It won't. Too far apart, heavier than iPhone/touch. Cramped controls aside, it works in iPhone/touch's favor with FPS and dual stick shooters.

Any word on if we will be forced to repurchase the games in HD versions? I'm assuming we will have to. I like Dungeon Hunter, I thinks its an amazing game, but not going to pay $6.99 for the same game that I have on my iPhone that I paid .99 for. I have to fight my desire to buy the launch games . . . just like SuperMonkeyBall for the original App Store . . . so many better games will come. Just give it time.

    • JCat

I was thinking the same when I spotted Dungeon Hunter; bought it around two weeks ago, and I'm not even 1/4 of the way through, and now I'd much rather play it on ipad. Wish they'd offer an upgrade price.

      • Adams Immersive

It would be cool if Apple were to add a “sidegrade” purchase system to iTunes.

    • Adams Immersive

Patience will pay off in more selection and maybe even lower prices, it’s true. Still, paying (worst case) $5 for an iPhone game and then $10 for an enhanced iPad game is still only $15 total, which isn’t bad for a great game at the end of the day.

I skipped Nova for iPhone, knowing I’d wait and get it on the iPad instead. First-person on a big screen will be worth the wait.

    Hey guys!

I can buy XBox360 and PS3 games from a discount box for that price. And will, instead of some big iPod Touch games.

    Yours truly,
    Sweet Jesus

But will they work on my iPad? Because that's where I want them. No? Oh. Why are you here?

This is where I mention how funny it is that some want "HD" versions of these games, and yet the other-Apple-product-I-cannot-name which would be hooked up to one's own actual HDTV set is seen by some of those very people as "a silly idea".

I won't mention it directly though because it apparently seems to anger some people who haven't learned the fine art of ignoring things.
