With less than three weeks to go to the release of the iPad, ngmoco CEO Neil Young revealed to Computerworld at GDC that they have six games on their way to the device. While Young was rather vague at the time, we've since talked to both Freeverse and ngmoco and have the complete list of games that should be available around the launch of the iPad.

Freeverse's highly anticipated space conquest game Warp Gate was specifically held back for the iPad launch. We first revealed Warp Gate at our iPhone Launch Party at WWDC last year, and since then have done an additional sneak peek of the game. Also, we've got a huge thread on our forums where Freeverse Senior Producer Bruce Morrison has been participating in the discussion about the game.

Freeverse classics Flick Fishing and NBA Hotshot will also be making their way to the iPad in addition to a fourth new game, CastleCraft, an MMO strategy game where players build and manage one or more cities, then stockpile resources and military units to wage war on hundreds of other players online. We will have more details on the game soon, but here are a few screenshots of the iPhone version for the time being:

Ngmoco themselves will be contributing iPad versions of both GodFinger and We Rule, two freemium titles that recently saw limited releases in Canada. It also seems likely that both games will be released for the iPhone worldwide at the same time.

We should have many more details on all of these iPad games as April 3rd approaches. In the meantime, I've been assured that Warp Gate looks absolutely amazing, and out of all the games I've heard about so far for the iPad, it's by far the one I'm most excited to fire up.

wonder if they looked for a famous name in their company to get this up on google. 'neil young' seems to be a damn good choice to announce upcoming games ;)

At last ! Warp Gate ! Not vapourware as ignorantly suggested by people who can't be bothered to read back a couple of pages in a thread ! Let's hope they've used all the extra time to tweak it to perfection ! Happy !

Good to hear NGMOCO/Freeverse has more games on deck for near future release. CastleCraft looks like it plays similar to Evony. I hope it has animation unlike most MMO Strategy games offered for Free(mium). Guess we will wait and see...

    • arhb

I tested Castle Craft and it was a really well made MMO. It's all animation based - which is great - because I can't be bothered with staring at just lists and stats. It was really cool to see villagers and dragons moving around your city.

Why would anyone want an ipad
the screen is going to scratch really easily. Maybe there will be ipad sized screen protectors

    • JCat

@ spock - huh? The same can be said for iphone/Touch and you don't hear any complaints on scratches. I've had my itouch for a year and a half, dropped it many times, and use it every day, and there's not a spec on the screen. That's the strangest reason not to purchase on ipad, other than the ill informed "it's just a big itouch" remark, which most of us are tired of reading.

I have a screen protector on my iPhone. Even a piece of sand can scratch the screen

    • Adams Immersive

Why would anyone get any touchscreen ever? Luckily, it’s glass.

(From my recent browsing, I think “screen protectors” must be today’s official iPad-troll talking point :) )

Given that the iPad will probably tank... hard. Will all these games get useful - err... I mean iPhone/Touch versions?

    • RattyUK

You say that the iPad will tank and tank hard. Way to go. At what unit count will you confess that you called this wrong? 100,000 1,000,000 or 10,000,000? Define tank or otherwise step outside and we'll call you a moron.

      • jc

lol. both of you are morons. let's wait and see. no one knows yet if it will be successful. all we know right now is that the hard core fans bought them. we need to wait to see if the mass market buys the ipad.

    • hunkeydorey

just like the original ipod tanked? or maybe that stupid phone that apple made?

you must have been in your diapers back in 2001, most likely in need of a history lesson. the ipad won't tank. it will be a huge success, and you will want one in a few months after all these amazing games come out for it, and all of your friends have one, too.

And when you see Flick Fishing it'll blow you away.

I'm taken aback by some people's fear that iPad will suddenly suck up all the good apps and games away from iPhone and iPod Touch. No developer is going to target the iPad only unless their app only makes sense on that device.

If you had a choice to release on one platform with 75 million users or another new platform with 150,000 - 200,000 users which would you target? Both, if you can. If you can't do both, you go for the 75 million users, right? Right. :)

Yeah, there are going to be a ton more iPad users than 200,000 but it won't get anywhere near iPhones and iPod Touches in the near future.

    • Deewin

I have no immediate interest in the ipad and I hope TA doesn't start showcasing a bunch of ipad only or timed exclusive apps.

      • hunkeydorey

    software sells the hardware.

Anyway, all their Apps will run on the iPad if they don't lift a finger, so just sit back and wait for the money to roll in.
