MC:S was 185 mbs, compared to a console game it is short but most people dont have a free gig of space for each app, which is what they would end up being if you wanted console length games, and the price would probably jump up as well.

Glad you agree. All it would take is for one big game developer to take a leap of faith, and just do it! Then, after that game sells like hot cakes (and it would) the others would follow, and before you know it, the dawning of a new age in iphone gaming will have been spawned: )

Exactly. A mobile Halo produced by Bingie would be extremely polished and require no updates. Just look as PSP games. Those games don't require bug fix updates, because they get it right the first time. But the budget/production value on high-end PSP games is much greater than with any iPhone. They can afford to invest more on the front end because of how much they are able to charge per copy on the back end.

A true console-quality game, like say either The God of War or metal gear solid game that came out for the PSP, if ever created on the iPhone, could never be priced at 9.99.

i remember playing through Hero of Sparta(God of War) wondering when levels were going to end. I found the game long even though it had 8 or 9 levels. Developers think they have to make bite sized games for the iPhone. I even heard a developer say that on an episode of the touchArcade Podcast. I didn't agree with most of what that guy was saying. I think he was to Critical about Games. As long as you can leave the game and come back without restarting the level, its fine. Kinda like reading a book and using a bookmark when you have to put it down.

Because if they priced it that high, we would presumably get a faultless full game with all the bells and whistles. There would be no crashes, bugs, constant up-dates etc. The UI would be tailor made for the device. It would ooze polish (I know people hate that word, but not sure how else to put it), and hopefully dispel all our theories that you can't have this game or that game work on an iDevice. They would prove us wrong. I'd pay for that.

I don't know why everyone assumes the bungie, valve, square etc. would sell their games at a high pricepoint. It would be business suicide to do so, especially with gameloft undercutting their prices with clones. I expect that were any of these companies to see iPhone as a platform they wanted to target they would price it competitively just like any other developer / publisher would. Gameloft makes money after all.
