Hey, just in case anyone cares, I just got the offers to work. Had to turn off my iPod Touch and turn it back on. When I did so, all of my offers had been redeemed and I had 2000 credits. Oh, and by the way, for those of you who think just pressing that top button turns it off, that's not true. You have to hold the button down and slide it to shut it down. Don't want to be that annoying duchebag who states the obvious, but just for those of you who don't know.

I love this game. There is a slight problem now though. When you follow what the instructions say, so Go to Gear Up - Get Energy - Special Offers, it shows you the offers homepage but you can´t click on the Eliminate Tab!
So you don´t know what offers there are?
Does anybody know the offers of today?

I guess because so many IPhone users must have Macs this sort of thing seems new, but this business model has been extremly popular in PC gaming for quite some times. "Free to Play" it's called, and while mostly it's for MMORPGs (there are literally 100s of them), there are examples of most genres, from FPS (Warrock) to Racing (Project Torque).

Basically it's a way of making far more money than they would simply charging a normal fee.

In theory, it's not bad, but most of these companies are really good at milking money out of players. Games end up being "pay to win".

And for those that don't have money or don't want to spend it, all these surveys and trial offers are a (rather sleazy) way to produce income as well.

At the risk of sounding alarmist, I think this is a huge risk to the iPhone. At least it's going to change the iPhone dramatically. More and more polished games will use this model rather than sell themselves for a low-ish price.

Step out of the box and just look at it...Why should you really pay countless sums of cash to play a 4-player game on a phone? And the argument that "you can always play for free" is ridiculous. Playing without gain gets old fast, not to mention hours of waiting for a couple minutes of imbalanced ranked games.

I think the in-app purchase system is fine, but it seems developers are exploiting it to maximize their profits, disguising their strategy with marketing ploys like ngmoco making Eliminate free. I'll be fine with spending money one-time for new weapons, but to spend money to actually play the game and make it worthwhile is completely and utterly ridiculous.

Regarding entertainment, what else do you have to wait for to enjoy these days? Nothing. We've got TiVos and such to watch tv whenever we wish, iTunes and others to get music and movies to at will, podcasts to listen to when need arises, games installed in our various devices to play when bored, we can even order food right to our doorsteps when hungry for heavens sake.
Then there is Eliminate, which lets you play couple of few minute matches once or twice a day - unless you're ready to pay hefty fee for a minute of fun. Fun you can get cheaper, if not free, and - to use Apple's terms - funner from elsewhere.

The bugs with international versions, promised yet absent free gametime with promoted cells and all the features missing from the game everyone and their mother is used to seeing in the genre, all in all Eliminate is pretty poor show.

It was fun while it lasted, few days that was. Now its bye bye instead of buy buy for Eliminate. Uninstalling. Good luck ngmoco, you're going to need it with this one.

So lame, what would have been a great game is ruined by this in app purchase crap. Apple allows this to take place and it is ruining the store. I complain to the devs and all I hear is sob stories about piracy numbers. I DONT CARE, why should we be punished because some people are thieves? Not supporting this game in its current state and I encourage you to do the same or soon all games will be just like this shit. Want some power cells, make a discover card. f!@# off this is crap.
