It also includes bluetooth multiplayer, so you don't have to battle your friend to see who gets it tilted more their way.

Of course you know that somebody is gonna say it: what a horrible tracklist! I'm no fan of their later work and as far as I'm concerned the earlier songs from the '80s are far superior. But I suppose the popular mainstream will love it and spend their money.

    • Felix

What are you talking about? Seek & Destroy, Master of Puppets, One.. plus 2 from the Black album. It's all there.
Well, maybe they'll release "Tap tap Kill 'em all" just for you.
Besides, all of Metallica is 'mainstream'

      • http://www.mentation.nl/thanatist/ Thaurin

I'd rather have Tap Tap Testament, thank you very much. :)

    • spiffyone

So, basically, you're just a fake Metallica hater.

      How new and original.

You and I both know that you rock their new stuff too in secret, when no one is around and your "metalness" won't be questioned by your friends, who probably do the same thing.

    I almost bought it.
Then I remembered Tap Tap sucks. Even with a soundtrack as awesome as this, why would I get it?

Unless they've finally modified it so the quality of the sounds reflect how well you're playing, it just isn't any fun. I'd much rather play the solos on a regular guitar myself... it's much more fun that way knowing that it isn't something prerecorded, but something you played yourself.

    • Aresinferno

This is tap tap and not guitar hero or rockband.

Have you seen how large the file size for tracks is in rockband for iPhone? That is most likely to do the effect you described of modifying the sound as you play. Rockband files are most likely made up of 4 or 5 music files, each containing a portion of the track e.g guitar or drums that can stop playing if you miss a note. With so many free tracks in TTR, if you were to increase the track size to 20MB, you wouldn't have a lot of free space.

The whole basis of Tap Tap Revenge was Tap Tap Revolution, based on dance dance revolution. You don't play actual instruments in DDR, you just dance to the music, like how Tap Tap Taps to it.

It would be no problem for Tapulous to just mute a few frequences to give you the feeling that bad tapping influences the music. No need to add extra files or other stuff to it. Just mute the higher frequences for three seconds...

Just get BeatRider, people. Custom theme it for Metallica, upload any song you have at any bitrate and you have the same game. Oh and of course it works with ANY song you have, not this BS DLC or whatever Tapulous is trying to pull.

There are no discernable patterns to Beatrider. Well, no patterns that repeat themselves. I recieve no sensation that I'm getting the same general pattern of notes each time the chorus plays, for example. It feels like its all just randomized notes/junk sliding down the fret board. The patterns make music rhythm games fan. Without that, it feels kinda pointless.

    • Chad

You are probably uploading songs that have no discernable beat, i.e. not suitable for any music game. Try, at minimum, putting a song that already exists in a music game to test it out. The only thing this game has over BeatRider, and I'll agree it's a decent point, is keysounded notes. But A) this game is really easy, so you're not really going to miss notes anyway, and B) it's not worth the premium they are asking for, especially once you want a decent song list.

      • Chad

Oops. For some reason my mind swapped over to Rock Band (iPhone version). This game has virtually nothing over BeatRider's head...it sucks in virtually all ways in comparison.

Kudos for King Nothing, by the way. An underrated song for sure. Not really sure how to explain the absense of The Unforgiven though.

I'm with all the other folks saying the track selection sucks. I would definitely buy a Tap Tap game that had a decent number of songs from Kill em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets. And a few from Garage Days would be awesome too!

    • spiffyone

They could've added more tracks, sure, but I don't think the track selection sucks as is, it just isn't as full as it could be.

The only song that I don't like on that list is Some Kind of Monster. If they had to put a St. Anger song on there, they could've replaced that with the title track (St. Anger). Not a great song by any means, but at least it's faster and more frenetic than ...Monster.

Also, I really wouldn't have minded Cyanide on that list. I know All Nightmare Long is more "known" to the mainstream audiences because of the cool video, but, IMHO, Cyanide is the best track on Death Magnetic for that kick ass bass line alone.

I love the track list, sure it could use a few more songs, but it's also good as is! It would be sweet if they added Suicide & Redemption 9 minutes of pure craziness!!!

Don't lynch me, but Metallica is overrated and only has 4 good songs. And they don't even have The Unforgiven in this game!

I do wish they'd stop doing band specific, separate apps. And more to the point, perhaps focus on other things, like Riddum Ribbon which is supposedly due out this month.
