The craft don't collide with each other because of future plans to allow users to race each other's ghost replays.

That's a good point jimbo but the video was shot on a 2g iPod Touch which runs the game at a solid 30 FPS though it does't seem to look that smooth on Youtube.

I haven't even seen the game running on a 3gs for long enough to do any accurate timings. It possibly achieves 60 FPS but the game plays at the same speed on all devices.

If you have any questions about the frame rate, please go to the thread in upcoming games and ask the testers how it runs.

Please don't review or preview games on the 3GS please, it renders your opinion completely pointless to the 40 million owners of the older hardware.

Shouldn't the aircraft crash if it goes right through a tree or collides with another craft while racing?

Ah, cool. Glad no-one else has heard it. :) I'm sure there's not many people have a big old Pioneer midi system hooked up to their PC like I do.. coz it was only on that that it was getting to me. Good to know there's a good sound engineer on the case. I'm gonna put it down to an artifact of the YouTube re-encoding then. (Will let you know if I hear it in the full game, certainly.)

Hey, just an idea: (If you were considering payed additional content at some point) ..how about 3d models that are similar to the real Soviet Ekranoplans? Maybe with a bit of extra weight to them (as they weren't exactly small.) :) Just a thought. I love those things. Would love to have been able to see one of them in actual ground-effect flight.

Anyway, as it stands now it looks just as cool to me as when I first saw the early alpha version on these forums. It's like you've grabbed the most fun bits out of WipeOut (the combat I could take or leave) and built it round Ekranoplans. Can't wait to try it.

Thanks for pointing this out but you might not be surprised to learn that you are the first to do so! :)

The instrumental version of the music is exclusive to the game. I'd be interested to know if you notice the same thing on the original track, which can be heard on iTunes or the band's myspace page, just google "diefenbach".

The guy who mastered it should know what he is doing, he is a Grammy award winning engineer, but he did do it for a favour. Hopefully it's an artifact of Youtube's compression or the settings I used making the video.

The version in the game is definitely at a higher quality.

Oh man! This looks great. Like WipeOut (which I was always a big fan of) but with a more grounded (heh) pure racing take on the genre. Absolutely guaranteed instant purchase for me. Don't forget to add some for-pay paint-jobs and weather/landscape effects so we can throw more money your way at some point eh? ..the pricing in the store is so crazy low now that it's good to have other ways reward such cool games.

Oh, and that music *totally* rocks. One minor gripe: from 0:54 to 1:19 and 2:08 to 3:58 there's a high-frequency sound coming from the right channel .. sounds like a filtered tambourine or maracas (some percussive instrument.) Is good on my Sony headphones, but a bit irritating through my good Pioneer speakers. I think if it's toned down at the higher end it might make that more palatable for people with speakers or headphones with good high-frequency response. (man, I *totally* came over as an audiophile geek there) :) ..other than that, that's a really kicking track. I'd like to hear more stuff from this band.

I wish I hadn't said the thing about finding a "Major Bug", it makes it look like I'm planning to release it with minor bugs. It's actually bug free already, there are just a few visual things to tidy up :)
