'Horror Racing' Sneak Peek
posted by Eli Hodapp on September 22nd, 2009 4:43 PM EDT in Action, Games, Racing, Upcoming Games, iPhone games, iPod touch gamesIt's not even October yet and we're already seeing a whole load of Halloween themed games that are either released or in the works. Horror Racing, Chillingo's entry in to what's looking to be an oddly packed lineup of holiday games is a racing game that seems to have some strong similarities to Blizzard's Rock'n'Roll Racing.

Horror Racing is a arcade style top-down racing game. 15 tracks are included along with 3 boss races. Competing in Horror Racing involves upgrading your cars and utilizing various weapons and power ups to beat your opponents. There are 5 characters to choose from along with a pair of unlockable characters each having their own statistics and different vehicles.
Horror Racing is expected to be available for download very soon.

I hope we aren't stuck with the steering wheel on the right.
I don't have any more details than what I posted, but I'd be very surprised if there wasn't the standard array of control options seen in most iPhone racing games.
Reminds me of Twisted Metal on the Playstation except this is on a fixed track. Car shooters are cool, hope to see more of them come over to the touch.
Auto Mangle is a car shooter which I found quite enjoyable.
lol i thought the first screenshot was shot of gameplay so i went like WTF?
lol!! i thought the same. Was super-excited earlier but now not so much.
I see domo-Kun!
Looks like Death Rally from back in the day!
@Kevin
I did exactly the same thing. Goddamn that would have been sweet if it was a gameplay shot.
Still, looks pretty good, hope it's no more that USD2 though….
This is blasphemy! I got so excited when I saw the first screenshot, and then the shots on the bottom immediately killed that excitement. Nice going.
It would be better if it has gameplay video (like most of others posts).
Reminds me a lot of Blizzard's Rock & Roll Racing for the SNES (which is a good thing). The perspectove, the weapons, the monster cars. But one thing is for sure: I hope they allow the option to put the steering at the left of the screen.
Oh it must have multiplayer by bluetooth
and does anyone of you remember 'Racing Destruction Set'
on C64 ? It even came with various levels of gravity and track
construction!
Ah, it might be inspired by Racing Destruction. I hadn't thought of that. ..Reminded me of Skidmarks / Super Skidmarks on the Amiga, but with weapons (which is a good thing.)
Looks nice. Reminds me of the sadly rare (outside the USA) Racing Gears Advanced on the GBA.
It is on. I'm installing the free "lite" version right now.
Cheers,
Leo
