Um, most of the world has had that since 3.0. My cell provider (Vodafone) sent me a txt on the 19th of June that I could use MMS. I'm sure Apple doesn't want to remind people how much of an ass AT&T has been making them look in the US.

Y'know, I was just about to reply with total hate on the game-codes idea, but that's not actually such a bad way to be able to save some kind of state.

Sure, it's not as user-friendly as is should be. But at least I could, say, go into a game's prefs, copy some 'game-state-hash-text', go to the Notes App and paste it in a "Game States" note. Would be a useful way to revert back to old states/saves too.

Now, if anyone were to implement saves where I had to type in codes and couldn't do the copy/paste thang ..I would hate them forever. (I have no good memories of that method.) :D

I'm sure they will, only because most people will not likely upgrade since the camera and built-in speaker were not included. However, do not expect them to run as smoothly as was presented... The 2nd gen seems to do pretty well with the newer stuff, though.

It's probably worth an upgrade for the faster processor alone. I will be (Of course, it is a big leap from a first gen to this).

In response to those who are complaining about not having the camera: The recent rumor seems to be that the camera did not function well with the Touch's new setup, so they just dumped the upgrade altogether. Don't be surprised if we have a "surprise" upgrade announcement in January.

But if you want a camera, go buy a camera. 3 megapixels ain't gonna do much for you. The mic would've been nice, but you can't have all you want all the time...

How is the iphone competing with PSP and DS?

They do not share the same retail market. 59p titles, no matter if they sell over a million, cannot compare to the multitude of titles on handhelds that sell multi-millions (many 5, 10 million and above) at 34.99.

They do not share the same development practice / mindset. Many genres and styles are served best with actual tactile controls, and developers know this too well. The iphone will always be a step behind in many areas due to this lacking, as many games need enough intuitive controls and buttons to properly function.

They do not share the same developers (with regards to focus and resources). The Japanese industry is completely focused on handhelds, and for a good reason considering handhelds are dominating its market, as well as the markets across the world. With Japan, they are not fond of digital distribution (DD in addition to online gaming isn't big in Japan, it's largely sniffed at), so Japanese support will be directed towards the medium-driven handhelds meaning the handhelds will always be steps ahead with regards to a large volume of medium and high-budget projects.

I don't think so. Else they would've mentioned it under the iPod Touch 8 gigs one as well.

Besides, I believe the support is more related to the kind of jack/headphone port available on the idevice. Probably the one which supports those headphones is only present in the Touch 32/64 GB only.

built-in speaker was introduced in the 2nd generation iPod Touch last year. These iPods have 'em too ofcourse. You probably own the 1st generation one (like me)

So does the iPod Touch 32GB have any form of internal speaker (even if not really good/loud) so I don't need to plug in headphones or a external speaker to play games?

If not I don't see how it can be compared directly to any handheld video game system.
