@Truthteller

You're compaing it to games of different genres, you can't do that.

Besides, the lack of being able to shoot and run at the same time is the whole point: to bring tension and atmosphere.

Resident Evil 4 reinvented the whole third person action game genre.

"1) The story was PATHETIC. Most of the characters were corny, the premise was boring, there was no real mystery. RE1 has a far better plot, let alone other games.
2) The controls. The same as RE1??!! You can't strafe, move with your weapon out, etc. This makes knife fighting particularly comical.
3) The graphics are nice, but there is absolutely no interaction with the enviroment, and very little freedom. You are restricted to narrow paths, and you have the odd switch to throw. (HL2 completely embarrasses it in this respect).
4) The game isn't frightening.
5) The game contains very few puzzles (I don't count running to one side of a map and flicking a switch as a puzzle; more a time waster).
6) The ridiculous and unnecessary introduction of random items. Open a sealed box, kill a snake, and get an egg. Which you can sell to a bloke who follows you. What a stupid idea."

1. The characters and plot were MEANT to be corny. The corniness is most RE fan's favorite parts of the games. WHOAH! This hall is DANGEROUS!

2. It adds difficulty to the game. If you could move and shoot, the game would be way too easy. Look at RE 4 Wii Edition. Even adding pointer-based aiming made the game too easy, even with the stronger enemies. Plus, look at how badly moving and shooting in REOF2 worked.

3. That is how the game is meant to be. Do you criticize Mario for simply being about getting to the end of the level?

4. A valid complaint. Most of the scare of the previous games was due to that lack of ammo, health, and saves. In RE4 you had more than enough ammo, health, and even had infinite saves.

5. Agreed. There should have been a lot more puzzles, like the older ones.

6. Actually, that is a cool idea. Plus, who the hell sells the eggs? You throw them at ganados or eat them.

I have to laugh when i see you bunch of whiners complain about the game. You really want Capcom to spend millions porting over a very graphically intensive game, yet you so often balk at spending anything over $9.99. Even then, that's the upper ceiling. You'd see people whining about a price drop. I've seen comments here from people saying Real Racing is too pricey for $9.

The race to the bottom for pricing was driven by the consumer base. How many top devs will be eager to divert resources from more profitable ventures into iphone gaming? You want a top notch RE 4 port, do you know how much that would cost on the PSP or the DS (Hint: Way more than $10). How many of you are willing to put your money where your mouth is?

There's something really amusing about reviewers expecting a very detailed port of RE 4 on the iPhone as it stands now. The best bet we have for a decent port is when Capcom finishes with the PSP Resident Evil, it should be less expensive to bring it over to perhaps the 3GS. Finito!

"There are home console only gamers that would laugh at such a statement of "full fledged games" on DS."

Guess they haven't tried "Advance Wars", "GTA: Chinatown Wars", "Fire Emblem" or Zelda for the DS.

Big developers are too greedy - they want to make a quick buck without any effort. I will only support indie developers from now on..

I GENUINLY cannot understand the praise lavished upon RE4. It was fun, but far from perfect. I clicked the link to it being voted number 1 game of all time (hl2 is far better in every aspect, even providing better survival horror aspects). To say the game is perfect in every aspect is so ridiculous that it is almost libellous.

1) The story was PATHETIC. Most of the characters were corny, the premise was boring, there was no real mystery. RE1 has a far better plot, let alone other games.

Anyway, a pretty decent game, with PLENTY of flaws.

They raped one of the best video games of all time....

The PS2-Version hadn't the best graphics either, but the atmosphere and gameplay were as genius as on the Gamecube.
This handy ehm mobile phone crap is even worse than the PC Version.
The iPhone has 600 Mhz and is capable of a lot more, this is just a lame port of an Japanese mobile game...

Poor level design, stupid cutscenes, childish boring dialogues.

This game is crap from the basement. Can't believe the level of quality is drowning all the time and people still get excited.

Not surprised at all. I knew it would suck. Apple really needs to watch itself, because this is starting to get old. The app store is being flooded with these lazy, half-assed, unplayable "ports" of existing high-quality games, and eventually it's going to lead to a backlash. Hell, I might just sell my 2nd-gen touch and get high-capacity classic or nano, and consider a PSP GO in the future. When PSP-GO comes out and offers a backlog of better games for download, and on the cheap, Apple may find itself in tough position. What ever happened to the mythical "premium" games section anyway?
