They do keep the original graphics. There are 2 game modes, one with the original gameplay and one with the new graphics.

I was hoping they'd keep the original graphics. Oh well.

Still looks very well done, it just loses its 8 bit charm for me.

I love Archon! And Archon II: Adept!

I think I'd rather have swipe controls than D-pad or accelerometer, but I'm looking forward to it regardless.

I sure hope it has multiplayer–that's the real fun of Archon.

(Just to be clear: it's not exactly like chess–the pieces don't move by the same rules and the board is 9×9, with some squares that change color to give a shifting advantage to one side or the other. The piece-moving tactics are not nearly as deep as chess–which is good for me: real chess strategy baffles me, but Archon I can grasp!)
