WWDC 2009 Kicks Off Today with Keynote
posted June 8th, 2009 11:16 AM EDT by arn in NewsApple's 2009 WWDC kicks off today with a keynote address by Phil Schiller. TouchArcade is here at WWDC and will be reporting on the latest news to come from Apple.
Apple has said they would be featuring iPhone 3.0 firmware which has remained in beta. On everyone's mind though is the possibility of a new faster iPhone which has been rumored for months. All the rumors seem to point to a number of new features including faster processor, digital compass and use of video. Many of these changes will, of course, directly impact the games that will run on future devices.
We're excited to see what happens, and will post a full report. Meanwhile, later in the week we should be some updates on some major new titles as we meet with developers about their games.
Stay tuned. The keynote begins at 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern.

I'd be happy if 3.0 would be available for download as soon as i get home from work..
Why can't the current iPhone 3G have the video feature? Would this not be possible on the software 3.0 uptade?
Cheers
As well as the iPhone and iPhone OS, there's probably going to be Snow Leopard. Plus, with the success of the App Store, maybe Apple will be expanding the service to its other platforms. WWDC would be the place to announce such a thing…
1 PM EST????? I cant wait that long
….Ohh well hopefully 3.0 comes out today
but if it doesnt oh well I'll wait till July 17th
I just walked by, wow the line almost stretches to the front door of my building. I was hoping to meet some touch arcade folks, but I didn't recognize anyone in line.
Just wan to let you know the Apple Store is down.
I hope OS 3.0 will be available today!!
And I agree with Zas:
OS 3.0 can put Video-Function in our iPhone 3G so why Apple doesn't do it for us????
Well, I'm very excited about this! But it really sucks for me because I'm jailbroken. So if I were to download 3.0 today it would erase all that jailbroken goodness.
So I'll get to drool over what the new features are until somebody makes a 3.0 jailbreak. I'm so jealous if it comes out today.
I heard that, while video for the 3G is technically possible, the data transfer connection (hardware) between the camera itself and the processor caps off to a degree that would only allow 12-15 FPS for video. I think Apple wants to preserve the reputation for quality by avoiding such pathetic performance.
I love the TouchArcade blog, but I have to mention that using someone's photo without any credit is some seriously bad mojo. On top of that, hosting the link on your own site without even linking to the original is not cool either.

(And photo coverage as well, I should say.)
I'm really disappointed this post hasn't been updated by at least giving credit to the photographer with a link. I mean, wtf?
It's Creative Commons, if you use the photo site the source.
Doctor Popular, certainly a valid point (attributed), although if it makes it better, I personally know the photographer and he had previously sent me the images for use.
