'Toy Raid' Is Simple Shooter Fun

Mobile developer Flying Tiger Entertainment has recently released their simple cannon turret shooter Toy Raid [App Store] for the iPhone and iPod touch.
Reminiscent of On-Line Systems' 1981 title Sabotage, Toy Raid puts you in control of an accelerometer or touch controlled turret with a single objective: kill everything in the skies. Helicopters and airplanes (dropping bombs) as well as paratroopers are attempting to overrun your fortified position. The only path to safety is the complete elimination of everything headed your way.
Toy Raid presents a simple, yet fun gameplay mechanic. I was a huge fan of Sabotage on the Apple II back in the '80s and enjoyed the remake that Apple bundled with the classic iPod units. If the Sabotage formula appeals to you, then likely Toy Raid will deliver pick-up shooter fun.
See Flying Tiger's gameplay video for a closer look.

There was a brief pricing snafu in the App Store, but Toy Raid is again available for download at a price of $1.99.
Flying Tiger's lead man, Jonh Brandstetter, has a long history in the game industry, having developed console titles for the NEC TurboGrafx-16 and having headed up the development of the Sega 32X launch title Star Wars Arcade.

I think if the gun was a tank that could move back and forth this game would be even be funner.
I think they're trying to remake the old Paratrooper game. This has been a staple of gaming since way back in the 8-bit days. Like breakout, space invaders, and pong, most devs are going to try to play on nostalgia value I think.
I'm not sure this would be better with a tank. Wouldn't that make the controls too complex? That's the mistake made too many times in iPhone games. Gotta keep the controls simple, then more people will go for it.
In other words, the original iPod's Parachute game is back. Took it a while!
…that was wave 26?….it looks like wave 1-25.
Finally! Some one has reviewed this app! I saw it on the store and was waiting to see if it was good.
$1.99 here I come!
Ugh, lame! Half of the fun of Sabotage was destroying the choppers and parachutes with the WRECKAGE of other choppers and parachutes.
This looks like crap compared to Sabotage.
You can use the wreckage for ballistics
This looks cool, I wanted a basic shooting game for iphone. Looks easy too control too.
Fun times. Game kicks butt.
Toy Raid is a Retro Style Game Created by me an Jeremy Klein for the Iphone.
It's got The Real Arcade Feel like all of my games way back to Turbo Grafx.
I hope you all enjoy it.
