I've had it on my iPhone 3G since yesterday and it runs just fine. My only complaints are a somewhat slow frame rate on some of the animations (like "extreme fever") and lagging, jittery fire button action when you are in advanced teaching rounds. Online gaming will most likely be added in coming upgrades. I don't mind the music missing, besides, there is some anyway.
Great game, kind of like 2D Japanese pachinko with a private school twist.

Yup, apart from there being no background music, it's a very very polished game. Compared to Bejeweled 2 and Bookworm, this time the look and feel of the original is there 100% (Bejeweled feels a bit odd with half the UI gone, same with Bookworm, and the absence of the cute pictures to go with your rankings makes it feel really sparse.)

I have both Peggle and the HalfLife-themed Peggle on the PC, and I must confess I don't even remember the music - apart from the fanfare when you complete the level. So, for me, there really is nothing lacking. ..Maybe they'll add the music in an update?

How can people say it's a "very, very polished port"? There's no freakin' background music! That makes it seem entirely unpolished. I would never buy a game without BG music. Maybe it seems polished for a "cellphone game", but for a true handheld game console, it's just crap without music. Just watched the video, and boy does it seem boring with all the silence.

Yep - this is my desert island app. Out of my top 25 (including AAA titles like Assassins Creed, NFSU, etc..), Peggle is #1.

Download. Now.

Well then I'll give it a go on the iPhone, maybe once I get a few levels in, I'll see what all the love is about!

See, the problem is the PC demo only gives you one power, so it can seem very simple and random at first. It's only when you unlock the rest of the powers (Like a ball that ball that lights up 20% of the pegs on one hit, or shooting 2 balls at once, or a ball that closes the cup at the bottom of the screen so the your shot can bounce off of it, etc.) that actual strategy kicks in.

I grabbed the PC demo and gave it a try, came to the same conclusion.
It's boring... shoot the ball, wait 20 seconds while it bounces around, rinse and repeat.

I really miss the music. I really like the music in Peggle and I don't see why it isn't included in this version of Peggle. Sure it would increase the download size, but I don't care. And there's no way it would affect performance, right? Why is there even a music volume control? It almost seems like the game is slightly broken, so maybe they will fix it in a patch...
