'Lexel' – A Nice Free Spatial Word Game

Aji's iPhone word game Lexel [App Store] offers a nice and free (for now) variation of your standard word game.
Like all word games, the goal is to simply create words of 3 or more letters. Lexel, however, adds a twist by requiring you to move the letters around on a limited grid in order to form words.
Letters continue to appear randomly on the screen so you need to be quick to form words before the screen fills up. Tiles also can only "slide" around on a grid and must be moved around other pieces. This adds a spacial component to the game that actually works quite well.
Once the board is filled, the game shifts into the the "relaxed" (non-timed) phase where you can continue to form words (if you are able) and then subsequently slide tiles using the empty spaces that are left.
The game was originally released at $1.99 but dropped to Free at the end of April for a "limited time". A nicely produced game that's easily worth the download for word-game fans looking for something different.

I enjoyword games and I really like this one. The gameplay is differentfrom others in the word game genre and can be a pleasant mix of both fast pace and relaxed pace within the same game. Well worth picking up while free and also worth paying for.
I agree, it's a pretty well made game. I play both Word Jong and Moxie pretty much daily as my main two but would definitely play this from time to time for sure. I live in the U.K. and T.A. promo codes only ever work in the U.S. app store so it is a bonus to get the odd heads up from you guys for a half decent free game to try out once in a while. I make a point of leaving a positive game review in deserving cases as a thank you to the dev's. -Def worth a download in my view.
first word game ive tried, due to TA exposure, and i must say its a nifty title. not sure how much id have paid for it but its certaily worth a couple quid and kept me occupied for tha past hour in any case!
Pretty darn polished for free! Innovative in a full genre.
I like the fullscreen toggle: you can show the iPhone status bar or not.
Totally cool game. Addictive quick skill word game where you can break glass with every word. Very satisfying! Great sound effects.

Just wanted to let you know that there's just been a major update to Lexel (version 2.0). It now supports two-player games between two iPhones. You can play either against or with nearby people over Bluetooth, and flip tiles between the two phones. We're hoping this stimulates some healthy competition!
