Com2uS has released their first of two planned baseball games this weekend with 9 Innings: Pro Baseball 2009 [$4.99].
The $4.99 game offers baseball fans another gaming option on the iPhone. Features include:
- Season mode: Select from 8 teams and play 126games to win the season. If playing 126 games is too much, then skip some games with auto-play.
- Tournament mode: If you are more intrigued with tournaments like the world baseball classics, then play tournament mode. It gets tougher and tougher as you make your way into victory.
- Exhibition mode: Have a few games and feel what 9 Innings of pro baseball 2009 is all about.
- Manager: you can pick from 8 managers and upgrade them.
- Homerun derby mode: Try hitting as many homeruns as possible in this homerun derby mode.

Com2uS is also planning a more casual baseball gaming experience with a game called Baseball Slugger that should also be arriving in the near future. That title will focus on batting alone in a homerun derby type game with the ability to customize characters and equipment.
A gameplay video for 9 Innings is provided by the developer here:
First impressions are being recorded in a discussion thread which has been generally positive. There have naturally been comparisons made with Gamevil's Baseball Superstars game which has recently seen a 2.0 version update. [App Store]

Yeah, Handheld Games is planning a similar approach with their "Batting 1000", which will be released at a low price point. Users will then get a discount when purchasing the full game, "Touchsport Baseball '09" via iphone OS 3.0.

Rectified…
finally a real baseball game
This game is just awesome. I feel bad for having both this and Baseball Superstars now (I have to delete Baseball Superstars or waste the space on my iPod)
nooo!!!….thats what i'm scared of doing. so i refuse to get this one.
(should i though?_
More space coming in iPhone 3.0.
Its pretty good, but i do tend to like Baseball super stars a bit more. I think their controls and artwork is better. I like this a lot though…
Tough call really but i'd give baseball superstars the advantage for style and easier pitch selection.
Another vote for Baseball Superstars over this one. Game control, art style and game mechanics are great.
Looks really cool. Seems more of a realistic and better baseball simulation than the more arcade on the go feel of Baseball Superstars. I have Baseball Superstars and I love it, play it almost everyday. I'm really tempted to get this but I'm not sure I should spend the $4.99 just yet. Please make a Lite version!!! If you make one I'm your full version will get a lot more looks.
9 Innings: pro Baseball 2009: Update!!
Com2uS, has just released an update for 9 Innings, new update includes:
- User can now Edit player names
- Minor bugs and glitches solved
I enjoy this game as it brings an “Classic Arcade,” feel to the iPhone baseball genera. I also own “Slugger.” Which, is produced by the same company I love them both. 9 Innings has a different feel than Slugger but just as addicting. This game is well worth the money and the updated has brought not only more stability but allows name edits to bring a more personal feel to the game. Pick this one up today in the AppStore you will be happy with the purchase.
