Danielle Cassley let us know that they are looking for beta testers for the next version of Aurora Feint: The Beginning. The free game was one of the first that we ever looked at here at TouchArcade.

The most recent version of the free game, however, was recently pulled from the App Store due to some outstanding bugs and issues. They're working on a newer version but are interested in getting a larger pool of Aurora Feint: The Beginning players to provide testing and feedback.

To qualify as a tester, you need to have played Aurora Feint: The Beginning but not played Aurora Feint II: The Beginning or Aurora Feint II: The Arena.

So, if you want to help shape the future of the app, email danielle@aurorafeint.com with the subject "Beta Aurora Feint Beginning".

Participants will be entered into a drawing for (1) $50 and (2) $25 iTunes gift cards.

"pulled from the App Store due to some outstanding bugs and issues"
    Apple finally noticed then...

"To qualify as a tester, you need to have played Aurora Feint: The Beginning but not played "
which means they have NOT addressed the underlying reasons. It means that if you have played before you are still going to be unable to play if your original game save was broken when you went to the other games.

The second was a paid app. The second broke many many people's accounts, ruined hours and hours of saved game progress. And yet they do nothing at all until Apple pull their app. This alone should say a lot about the devs.

Remember people, when you play this game all your data becomes their data. You have no control over it, no access to it.

    Hi There,

Just to set things straight. Apple DID NOT pull our app. We pulled our own app so that we could respond to the community. The reason we don't want testers who have played the Arena or the paid Beginning is because we want to know how players of our "cult classic" game will respond to the new look and feel. The game has been drastically upgraded and we want to ensure that the players of our old game still love it.

Also the underlying reasons for the loss of save games was in the old Beginning and not the other games. This update rectifies the problem and account issues should become a thing of the past!

This beta is us reaching out to the community asking for what they want.

Eh, I played the free version of this game, a while back. It was a fun game, but the full screen adverts at EVERY loading screen forced me to delete it after 30 minutes. There honestly was no reason to pester the player to buy the full game like the devs decided to do. When I decided to download the title because of all the good press nobody mentioned that all it was, was a piece of nagware for their paid game. What they did could easily be accomplished on startup only or a menu item to buy the paid game.

Last time I tried to play it, I lost quite a lot of progress and couldn't register my username again (server error if I remember correctly?) after several tries. Consequently I stopped playing. Would be happy to be a tester, but is this available to people outside the US?

If so, I'd love to be in and will send in my details asap.

    @ Danielle

There were those of us who just wanted to play the game without needing to sign in and be flooded with back and forth with other players. This game used to have a pretty nice offline one player mode, and then you "updated" the game so that one needed to basically be constantly on in order to play. That's ridiculous. This was a nice hold over for Puzzle Quest, and then you totally fudged up the offline single player. I hope that one of the "outstanding issues" you hope to rectify is putting back in the single player a lot of us liked. No offense, I know the idea of online multiplayer, or hooking up to a server seems like a great thing, but some of us just want to play the damned game without signing in.

I liked Aurora Feint at first. It was quick, it didn't crash, it was fun...
But then it started crashing, and just lagging, and it was no fun at all. And the constant pestering to upgrade was annoying, I'll agree. Also, the games started to last too long...I deleted it a few weeks back. I used to be considering the paid version, but the lite version was so buggy--why would I go for the paid version?

Good to hear that you guys are working on it. I hope that it's a decent product for the re-release, and community outreach gets you some brownie points in my book. :)

i played the very 1st version (that spyware version o_O) and it was fun, but got old REAL quick...
i like match-3 games but not that much - puzzle quest is awesome compared to bejeweled just to make a point here.

but now it just don't quite appeal to me anymore...
