I've downloaded both this version and the one by ARCTAN and found the ARCTAN one to be much better. The game is an exact replica of the original game for the Apple ][, including sounds and graphics. It has support for both accelerometer and touch screen controls, which is awesome...although i find the touch screen controls much easier to play with. I highly recommend the other version. Definitely worth the $3.99.

The original Lode Runner on the Apple IIe was a fantastic game. I have yet to see a new version that lives up to the old one though. Developers for the iPhone should definitely look at that original version (I think you can get emulators) or contact whoever has the rights (I think it was a Broderbund title). A perfect copy should be possible as it is not a very hardware demanding game. The original had such a wonderful combination of action (having to time things just right) and strategy (you really had to think hard how to approach certain levels). I'd say it would be a guaranteed success.

err.. i bought this game on impulse. And, I like it. It seems simple at first but for $1.99 it's a great pass time game. Wish, I knew how many levels, mission or whatever. Why, they didn't tell us more info about the game is beyond me.

Yeah, Lode Runner was my first true (game) love. It would be great to control the guy with the accelerometer but dig holes with a simple tap. Please, devs, let us relive our childhood!

I love Lode Runner, but I'm not a fan of tap-pads, especially when they take up a lot of the screen. Worth a try even so.
