Hurray. A game promoting the environment!
January 6th, 2009 at 8:52 pm
Looks like a bit of a rip of, but I'm a sucker for these types of games.
January 6th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Looks really relaxing.

So, in this game, you're a giant meatball monster that rolls over people, who then get dissolved into some sort of organic protein blob which gets farted out to create a bunch of weeds, and other non indigenous foliage?
My god! How do you stop it!!

The idea is nice… but I think the artwork is really really Terrible
January 6th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
^ I totally agree, to me the artwork is overly childlike\conceptual and does not do the game justice.
January 6th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
It's only mixing a lot of other games' ideas but it does come out as an enjoyable game, at least from what I can see.

ENOUGH WITH THE CUTESY GAMES! I'm sick of it. Every frickin' game looks adowabul. The graphics look like they were made in MS paint! "Make the world beautiful"? Are they marketing to 4 year olds?!?!?!
January 6th, 2009 at 10:50 pm
btw, doesn't anyone see Super Mario Galaxy in there, too?
January 6th, 2009 at 11:15 pm
I totally agree with everyone. Enough with the two year old artwork and I mean come on. "make the world beautiul". What kinda title is that. Plus I'm sick of these Eco games. I hear about how we screwed up the planet every day I don't need to hear about it in the games I play too. I rele want that groundbreaking platformer to come out for the iPhone and I'm pretty dissapointed to see that we are starting off the new year with the same old crap.

Oh wah wah wah already with the complaints. The artwork fits the mood of the game, and it IS from the developers behind Trace, after all. What did you expect? Uber realistic graphics? Anime style design? Get over it already. The game's art style, IMHO, sets the mood, and that's what good art style is supposed to pull off. And it's a game like this, btw, that might actually help the iTouch/Phone as a game platform in Japan, as this type of stuff is eaten up over there. And if Gomi ends up being a good game (and it should be, coming from the Trace developers) AND makes JP studios take notice and bring us more stuff then I wouldn't care less how cartoony the art style ends up being.

How people could take this seriously (let alone themselves, sorry but you can be a little more professional than this) I really don't know, because the music is tone deaf, the graphics are poor and the game concept isn't well formed.
January 7th, 2009 at 6:00 am
I almost fell asleep watching the gameplay video.
January 7th, 2009 at 6:07 am
I like the artwork. What's wrong with people these days?
Oh, I remember. They're spoiled.
January 7th, 2009 at 8:28 am
Is this supposed to be fun? just rolling a ball… where are the gameplay elements?
January 7th, 2009 at 10:24 am
Say what you will about the gameplay (yeah, it does look kind of MS Painty, but who cares, if the game play is ok, I'll accept a lot of quirk) but I'm going to have to agree with CrocStock here and say that the music is totally unlistenable. It is very wrong to my ears.

I refuse to play a game that kills people to make flowers. Maybe Gomi should roll over the developers.
January 7th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
@ Kamazar
Yeah, I see Super Mario Galaxy mixed in it too.
Just one issue…
Super Mario Galaxy was FUN! It had loads of creatives puzzles utilizing the odd gravity effects… this… it looks like there's no real puzzles to it at all. There's no fighting. There's nothing. You roll around. You crap flowers.
I really wonder sometimes what the developers are thinking when they make promo videos like this. They aught to show it to friends who haven't heard about it yet… and they shouldn't tell them that it's their own game first or else they won't get honest feedback. Really, when you show everyone else videos like this… it's the first thing you've ever shown them. They already think you're a joke and have no plans of taking you serious now.

If this is free, then I say its awesome. Whoever said that people nowadays were spoiled, they're damn right. This game may not look so great in the first video to SOME of you, but its promoting a noble cause and I think its gonna be a good game.
January 7th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
It looks a little slow… Speed up the rolling, add more gravity to the jumps (it's a bit floaty IMO), add some more platformy stuff (traps, enemies, a more defined goal/path perhaps) and it looks like it might be pretty fun! A bit of a twist on a platformer, which afaik, we're kinda lacking a good platformer on the iphone/touch
(Just my opinion from the video

You whiners are ridiculous….there are powerups and bosses and stuff, this is just gameplay. And what, artwork too childish for you? You afraid to show it to your friends who eat raw eggs for breakfast and lift trucks?
January 20th, 2009 at 1:22 am
judging a high concept indi game by beta footage is a bit presumtuous. The artwork in trace was of a similar, if not inferior caliber and I don't believe it mad the game any less enjoyable. Gomi won't be for everyone but I for one trust calderone to give us another hit and furthermore I respect his work enough to reserve judgment until I have a copy on my iPhone.

It's late febraury and still no gomi…. Where is it? Anyone with an answer please tell me! This is going to be an exciting platformer!!
