I worked at an Apple Retail store before and after Christmas, and the 8gb iPod Touch was by far the best-selling product by volume in the store.

Baaahhh ..old news. If you read what i post in a thread somewhere before this news came out. Everyone, knew Apple is damn pushing their products iphone/itouch to the market. I told the dev should start creating good games at the price point of $0.99-9.99 and let Apple do the marketing.

More people will buy the iphone/itouch down the line and that means more future customers. That means their games will sell like eternity!!

Even, if their game price is $0.99, they will still earn back profits. All, they need to do is keep updating their games so that it will be seen. Especially, for new customers. The iTunes store is still new and Apple won't stop marketing right?

It's a win-win situation for the dev. Unless, their game is totally crap of course! LoL!!

You should get together with the comedy troupe "Chad, Matt, and Rob" out of L.A. They put together a full interactive YouTube "Choose Your Own Adventure" style movie with branching plotlines and everything. Was the "video of the week" for Entertainment Weekly, CNN, and YouTube's main page for a while. They were able to do quite a bit on a shoestring budget. Not for everyone, certainly, but cool to see YouTube's potential pushed a little further.

“So that guy made about $10,000 from a farting app?”

"No, he made about $20,000, on christmas day alone."

*starts researching exactly what is needed to develop iTouch/Phone apps

BTW, I've actually been thinking about it. Soul Trapper, Alternate Endings and games of that ilk have lead me to think maybe, just maybe, I've got a game in me. Hell...I've got experience directing (student) films...I could make another FMV adventure game/interactive movie.

It's pretty hard to find I would say. My younger brother has been trying to track one down since the 26th, he has yet to find one, and has been searching all over the place.

I know 16 people who got an iTouch for xmas, and I emailed each of them a link to toucharcade. The few times I was in the Apple store, during the weekdays no less, there was always a line 20+ people deep waiting to buy an iTouch, so I think it's safe to say it sold well. You people better get busy with more reviews, got more gamers to feed.

As for EA, they are probably holding NFS back until they can develop a truly obnoxious DRM to cripple it with, much like they did with Spore. As soon as they make sure that a large number of people who buy it legally can't play it, they'll release it with much fanfare.

Now when are we going to get a match three defense towers game with pirates, ninjas and zombies? Get working on that, you indie developers!

"stupid EA…WAITING with NFS….."

Yes, I'm sure they would rather put out a product not ready for market and piss off the consumers who are waiting for it. Do you suppose it is sitting, waiting, fully feature-complete and bug-free, on EA's servers, and the EA suits are pointing and laughing at all those suckers spending money elsewhere? Yes, EA is truly full of idiots for not putting out an incomplete product sooner. Clearly YOU should be running EA, Joni. You must know so much better than they do...

Clearly you haven't been reading the posts of people who are tired of buying an app only to have to download updates 4-7 times for it as the bugs are worked out AFTER its release and the initial buyers act as paying beta testers for it.

As far as iPhone vs iPod traffic, it seems very likely that people who wanted an iPHone got it themselves. Who would buy a phone that comes activated and then let it sit under the tree for a week or three until the holiday. Phones in general don't seem like a big item to give on Christmas day, but the iPod Touch certainly doesn't have the same issue of being active (by necessity of how it is sold) right from the store.
