Gameloft has posted a description and trailer for their upcoming game Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes.

Be a hero

You are Jason Becker, a soldier of the 101st Airborne division. In 12 seconds, you'll jump from the plane with your team mates towards your first objective. Check your parachute and prepare to land in hell

Get ready for action worthy of the biggest blockbusters that will have you relive the most intense WWII battles of Normandy, Ardennes & Tunisia.

You'll have to stay strong to accomplish the 14 missions combining objectives on foot with driving, such as operating 4×4 vehicles to harass enemy troops or driving Sherman tanks to stop Panzers attacks.

Soldier, defeat is not an option.

It's always hard to tell how much of the gameplay is scripted, but it looks quite impressive. Coming to iPhone and iPod Touch December 2008.

Update: Some commenters claim that the footage is unlikely to be from the iPhone version of the game.

its not a real iphone video clip….cgi !

  • arn says:

it's not all gameplay, much of it is cutscenes, but there do seem to be gameplay components in there (shooting, tank) etc…

    BEWARE!!!
These images are in-game clips from Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, a Gearbox game for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and IN NO WAY represents the quality of the iPhone game that Gameloft plans to release!

  • TennisKing says:

Yeah, these graphics are defintaely from hell's highway. There's no way an iPhone could handle graphics and effects like the ones shown in the "in game footage"

  • SalsaMD says:

    Deceptive rat bastards!

  • Pug says:

    Probably some kind of misunderstanding.

I agree – never ever are we gonna see graphics like this on iphones from this generation… imho.

  • Steve says:

there is no way this game will look that good. imposable!

why would they make this look like the iPhone game or even show us a video of something else.

  • Woogle says:

This is not gameplay from the iphone version of Brothers In Arms, this is from the PC and Console game "Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway" I have played the game and recognize the cutscenes, but this is besides the point as the iphone and ipod touch currently could never run a game like this, as it has already has trouble with games like Cube.
It's outrages to show a video of the console game, as some people no doubt will think that it is truly a gameplay video.

  • "Update: Some commenters claim that the footage is unlikely to be from the iPhone version of the game."

Well, according to Gameloft it is from the iPhone…

"The exclusive introduction cinematic of the first Brothers In Arms game on iPhone Brothers In Arms: Hour of Heroes."

Thanks for that Gameloft, I always make purchases based on the 'cinematic' intro. What is this, 1994?!!! Grr!

All ye have little faith. So, when the big boys (EA, Square, Namco, Sega, and Capcom) learn more about the iphone and how to get the most from it. Do you really think we won't see any graphics similar to the video we have just seen? When the developer takes the time and cleans-up the graphics you can have an outstanding looking game. Has anyone seen Fastlane Street Racing, lately? I think that game shows what happens when the developer takes the time to clean-up the graphics. Nuff said and I'm out.

  • michael says:

that is definitely not from the iphone version. i was called in to participate in a focus group for this game. it looked nothing like that. it was impressive looking, but more on par with a playstation 1 game. controls were a mess. not sure what they can possibly do to make it any good.

  • hatdude says:

yep fake. This is not iPhone footage. Most likely from the 360 or PS3 version.
    Fail!

  • Dave_b says:

The posteffects and selfshadowing make it pretty clear this is 360 footage.

  • This joke of a video is already the reason,
why I won't buy this game. Assholes, trying to dumb us.

  • Hutch says:

Well, looks good whatever it is. If by chance this is really gameplay "ie, tank drivin'" iphone/touch is going to crush psp and ds. 3d horse power or not… I use my iphone for everything…. EVERYTHING.

Just bring Quake out and I'll be happy.

  • Demonshade says:

No one is trying to trick you…a Cinematic is CGI, it isnt of the actual gameplay, no one said it was the gameplay vid. Many games have cinematics which dont represent the look of the actual game. Look at like any Blizzard game such as wc3, world of warcraft, they all have cinematics.

  • Of course I know that,
but there are also in-game sequences…and even THEY are NOT for or from an iphone version…wanna bet, that the final game will look completely different? :)

  • Demonshade says:

i dont wanna bet, they used ingame footage from a different game as part of their cinematic? idk. Maybe they were too lazy to make that so they just took ingame footage from the 360 version

  • radchad1 says:

IGN has the first exclusive screens for the new game. Tell you what the video did lie about the in game graphics. I'm still impressed that the quality of in game pictures looks that good, though. The link is provided and enjoy.

No way the iphone/ipod touch graphics chip is capable of those visuals. I think they must have taken in-game footage from Hell's Highway =/
