Gameloft has just released UNO [App Store] through the iTunes App Store, an iPhone adaptation of Mattel's highly popular Crazy Eights-style card game.

Play the classic card game that's #1 for fun with friends and family. In single or multiplayer, playing UNO has never been so fun and easy, thanks to a brand new gameplay system! Simply drag & drop cards using your finger on the screen for intuitive control, and be the first to get rid of all your cards.

  • All your favorite Action Cards are here: Wild, Reverse, Draw 2 and more!
  • Customize your game with 9 different rules including 7-0 and Jump-in.
  • Play against the AI or your friends: use only one iPhone or play with multiple devices through a WiFi connection
  • Take on increasingly hard challenges in Tournament Mode.

I've been waiting for this game to drop ever since the app store opened it's doors. I've already played a few rounds of it and am very pleased with the end result. All is not perfect with this port of the game, it's missing online multilayer game play. I have my fingers crossed that Gameloft will release an update that allows for online play against players around the world.

Looks pretty good. However, the price is higher than the physical card game. A more reasonable starting price for this game would be the Texas Hold'em price of $4.99.

I wanted this game so badly on the iPhone but with a price tag like this it looks like i'll have to wait even longer for it to drop in price.

    7.99 is just retarded
4.99 would have been much more reasonable.
    1.99 would be perfect

Cjelly, this version of Uno also has online play! I somehow over looked the online multilayer option, but it is indeed there. Thankfully I was wrong about the online play. When you consider online play is free (unlike XBLA) $7 becomes a bargain for this game. Also I haven't yet found a portable version of this game that even match the graphics.. This one closely resembles the XBLA version too. I consider this the perfect portable compliment to the XBLA version of the same game.

Sldrofhla, I don't know if online multilayer is worldwide, but can tell you that you can certainly play others online, not just others locally. I just took on someone named 666 not much more than 15 minutes ago.

so there is online, i didn't mean worldwide, but you can definitely play people on different networks? I wonder why they don't say that in the description. I just want to make sure before spending 8 bucks on this. thanks

Well, the retail price of a pack of Uno cards is $8, so I guess that's how they priced it.

All I can do is echo the sentiments above... it looks nice, but $8 is rather silly. Gameloft seems to target that portion of the market though, they rarely go out on a limb from what I've seen. They market toward owners who will gladly pay for well recognizable titles or clones thereof.

In this case, the $8 is probably in part due to paying licensing fees.
As a business, I suppose it's their choice to make.

Wonderful graphics. Didn't know you were not allowed to put 2 cards if you had two three's for example. Haven't tried online play yet, though I see the option, but so far it looks like a polished game.

The game is nicely done with voiceovers, music and animations. Which also makes it a memory hog. If you have trouble with it crashing, reboot your phone to clear out memory. Reminds me a lot of the Xbox version. Very similar style and feel.

Verdict: I love it! Very similar to the XBLA version. Well polished, with good gameplay. It costs less then an actual Uno deck, and you get online play as well.

I'd definitely recommend it to Uno fans.
